Lore, and the Asuran Warrior
Simple. Most warriors rely on pure strength to fight and dispatch their foes, Asura don’t have that luxury so I’ve always imagined that instead of being brutes they take a more strategic and acrobatic form of melee combat.
Instead of taking hits, they dodge and leap around their enemies, waiting for openings to strike. You don’t really need strength when a sword is custom made for their size either.
Or you know, they do this: http://youtu.be/c-YqM_Q-zIw
Simply think of it as using a different fighting style. Instead of strength, they have agility, instead of brawn they have guile.
Evasive way of combat is thief domain. If you want to create asura warrior, then you’ve got to think rather about his gear, not pure skills
I’d like to use examples from Fallout games to explain some stuff in here:
- Power armor – providing bonus strenght, yet slightly lowering agility. Looking at warrior moves (especially with hammer) it fits pretty much. Also cultural armor looks like powered by some magical energies
- Super Sledge – requieres less strenght than normal sledgehammer, deals more damage thanks to kinetic energy storage device. Mystic/inquest and glyphic hammers and greatswords look pretty much like energetic weapons. Just rename device to whatever you like
- Stimulants (optional) – buffout was pretty popular among sportsmen. Steroid pills increasing strenght, agility and endurance. Ofc it had negative effects, like general weakness later on. Also pretty addictive. As for advanced asuran technology you might remove addiction factor and get rid of unwanted effects. Smells kinda like engineer, but well…
The magically charged crystals used in golemancy seem to adorn their cultural heavy armor.
Plus, as others have said, you don’t need to be the strongest guy to be an effective warrior. Warriors have and utilize other tools.
e.g: A human warrior would have to be faster/quicker/skilled to compete with a Norn warrior. How would an asuran warrior beat a human one? Go for vital areas/dart in and out of legs/speed/acrobatics. A-Net has pretty much already given us the answer in the asura warrrior animations.
Fight smarter, not harder.
Have you seen the recent Robert Downey Jr Sherlock Holmes films, where you get to see him planning the entire fight out in his head before destroying someone in hand-to-hand? THAT’S how an asura warrior fights.
It’s even better if you can actually do that, of course

Re: “The norn sent 9”
This is the plot of Guild Wars: Eye of the North. You can see the entire story for yourself by either purchasing the game and playing through it (highly recommended, GW1 is a lot of fun) or by finding a “Let’s Play” youtube series.

From “Eye of the North” –
Jora: “The Norn are ready as well!”
Ogden Stonehealer: “There are…five of you?”
Jora: “I thought four would be enough. Olaf’s daughter insisted she come along.”
Ogden Stonehealer: “I will NEVER understand the Norn.”

Their combat animations alone disagree with you. Not all Warriors take on the role of brutes and musclemen.
