Is it possible to have? I am currently human and made that mistake and really want to be an Asura. I can see the argument with the personal story but, my take would be if you finished the personal story with human and want to race change to any race, there shouldn’t be any conflict with it at all. I believe race change should be set to:

*Must be level 80
*Must have completed personal story with current character wanting race change

Also with the cultural items and such. Well why not have an Asuran come up with a device that transmorphs them into “race changed” items?!

It would probably be possible, but odds are it would be simply too difficult to do to be worth the trouble.

There are lots of things going behind the scenes that we players don’t know about. Achievements, personal story, all those fancy counters (just look at their one year infographic), racial armor… We have no idea how all those things might interact with each other behind the scenes. If the game wasn’t programmed with race changes in mind, changing it afterwards is likely to involve a lot of re-coding.

With the limited amount of programmers Anet has at (<- avoiding juvenile cats->) its disposal, they simply can’t afford to have someone working on a minor feature like that for such a long time.

That being said, I’m always looking for willing test subjects for transmorphic experiments..

Just be patient. Several krewes are already hard at work perfecting the formulation for an Asuran metamogrification contrivance in an attempt to correct the Eternal Alchemy’s only mistake. Soon the only race will be Asura.

you can see your personal story in the H menu – if you became an asura, it may still show you as deciding to go to the circus or finding out about your sister who was captured by centaurs, arenanet will not change anything that affects personal story

Doubt it.

Anet isn’t exactly huge, so they can’t afford to have someone spending such a long time on such a small feature. Not enough people want it enough to make it a priority.

Just level up an Asura and transfer your equips. If you have cultural armor, keep it for one future human you might have.

I have asura here that i want to change to human and i really hope that anet will make this possible, no matter how high will the price be, I (and Im sure many many other ppl) will pay to change their race

Anet has already said they will not implement a race change. BUT they are very helpful when you make the change your self. I also made a Human and later on wanted to be Asura. I opened a support request to ask for the following things, the unlimited gather items be moved to my new character and also ascended rings and amulets. Since these items are huge time sinks and/or unobtainable any more and they made all items account bound for me. I wasn’t greedy in asking for things like my T3 armor and other exotic items or any character bound things like WXP/skill points/ect. In the end, they were very helpful in making my transition to my new Asura very easy.

Once entered, “transmogrification” occurs – select a race and you construct your appearance from scratch. Since personal story would still be canon for your character, that doesn’t change. All that changes is your character model and ability to use certain cultural armory. (Ideally any cultural armor soul bound to a transmogrified character would become account bound)

What is so bad about having a human character? I can see Asura having a PvP advantage but other than that…is it just for looks? I tried one and the run animation is a little over the top, same for jumping.

Only complaint about Asura is weapon scaling. Barely noticed an Asura who had Bifrost the other day…it all just kinda blended in.

The thing is, there is probably a lot of things going on behind the scenes that we players don’t really know about. I doubt it’s as simple as swapping around some character models.

I think it’s reasonable to assume we’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg here. Looking at the statistics, they are even keeping track of things like WvW caravans killed and the amount of player kills each monster type has. It’s not that far fetched to assume they are also looking into PvE, PvP and WvW kills and deaths, average level and the amount of dungeons runs each race has, to name a few.

That combined with the problem of personal story (I can just imagine what mess dealing with that might be..) and personal story related achievements has the potential of making race change a very time consuming thing to implement, and when it comes to paid programmers, time really is money.

They’ll have to prioritize things, and being a relatively small feature that would take plenty of developer time to implement race change probably isn’t going to happen any time soon.

Why would a human wish such a thing? That poor bookah brain would surely rattle about to the point of damage in a cavernous Asuran cranium. And were such an abomination able to avoid damage, it would be fit for only the most menial of labor in our elite society. Much better to simply delete inferior races and make the ascent as intended, from level one and with the superior tools to succeed in life given any Asura.
