Scale on weapons
Feels like the Asura got the short end of the stick (Lol). But the same with light armor models they look great on humans ect but all the armor looks the same with the asura I went 1-79 looking the same and had to shell out 5g and 84k karma just to look different.
I totally agree! I wanted to also point out that it feels like the shorter melee weapons also have a smaller range/hit box compared to the larger races with larger models. I say “feels like” because I haven’t tested this, nor do I have actual data to back this up. Thoughts?
I have to agree on this, especially the hammers. I was really looking forward to the Icebreaker (HoM Hammer) for my Asura guardian…untill I previewed it in the PVP Locker… not as epic as when a human/norn/anyone else holds it, in fact, not epic at all. It would be really nice if the weapon scaling could be reviewed for the Asura. Sure, this isn’t as important as bug fixing, but maybe since it’s likely a different team’s field, it could be taken care of paralell with the fixes, at some point. I hope so.

The scale on Greatswords is awesome for Asura. All of the other weapon look too tiny, especially the Hammers.
Some of the smaller, lower level weapons looks a bit dumb, but I’m actually pretty okay with the scale because a lot of the more impressive weapons in the game are comically oversized on other races, whereas they look pretty alright on Asura.
The Asura are my absolute favorite race, but I really hate how tiny their weapons are. I’ve always been a fan of oversized weapons on tiny races, and whenever I run past a Human with a GIANT greatsword, I get a little jealous. :[
One handed weapons like daggers and pistols are the size of toy weapons, and I’d love if they made them bigger. In fact, here’s my Asura Necromancer with dual daggers equipped. Can you see them? I can’t either, but I promise they’re there.
The Asura Cultural tier 3 Weapons are a pretty good size on Asura characters just got the hammer

I have to agree that the scale of some weapons is just a bit over the top.
As a Pistol/shield Engineer I find the scale to be just about right.
BUT at one point I wanted to switch to Rifle but the Rifle… It’s non existent in terms of size, I was expecting a RIFLE not a peashooter, so in the end I just rolled another Engineer but this time a charr n oooh gods shall know that a proper rifle in the hands of a charr looks like a gift from heaven. So yeah please fix Asura scaling a bit or offer race changes/name changes…

I love my warrior with a hammer… however I’m so annoyed about the size of the hammer. Not saying it should be HUGE but at least it must look like it can smash some heads. Right now I would laugh it someone attacked me with a hammer of that size.
i like minimal armor. and i dont think they are scaled down too much.

You guys should try staff on asura, tip(head) of staff is not even taller than shoulder level so most of time, tip is underneath armor.
ANet needs to either increase size of weapon a bit bigger or for staff, they needs to raise where staff is placed
One of the main things I’ve noticed is that weapons resize when they are sheathed. So my staff looks great when she’s wielding it, but shrinks by 1/4 or so when she puts it on her back. I haven’t checked with the other 2h weapons but I’m guessing it’s the same.
Totally agreed with OP. It is very hard to find a weapon that does not look too small. Yesterday I have finally found a shield that looks huge with my asura but I don’t have objections against the shields. One handed weapons and hammers do look too small. I would suggest that Anet would implement with the dye system also weapon scale system. Nothing extremely big or small but some normal adjustments to solve these problems and everyone would be even more unique.

The only thing that bugs me about the size is how the weapons SHRINK when I put them away. Greatsword on my back is about 75% the size it is in my hand, and the same for everything else. I get that they’re concerned about clipping, but what’s wrong with Asura just carrying them at an angle across their back? Particularly dislike it on the Sheilds. I like the look of a little asura carrying big weapons or a sheild on their back, but it looks ridiculous the way it is, and it just pops between sizes when you draw/stow weapons. I’d rather clip through the ground than this (PS, most swords clip anyway). Stow weapons sideways/diagonal across the asura’s back at full size and pop the shield on at same. It would look awesome.

As a dagger using Asura, I have to definitely throw my hat in. These weapons are almost impossible to see, even at full zoom. If I wasn’t so lazy and time limited I’d honestly consider rerolling.
The greatswords are good, everything else looks like it’s needs 20% size increase (at least!)
I was really planning on playing an asuran warrior, but after seeing how overly scaled-down the weapons are, I decided against it. I don’t want the weapon to be Norn or even Human sized, but the current scale is just awful.

Huh? I can preview daggers just fine. Haven’t tried the other ones you mentioned, since my asuran is a thief.
So, I have decided to reroll as a Sylvari Mesmer. Too bad I was already 80 on my Asura Mesmer….but if the end game is mainly about getting better weapons/armor skin, the Asura just do not have it.

Hammer and mace on the other hand look stupid as hell. The basic hammer skin( wood stick with a big stone at the end) looks fine most of the others look like did scale it with out think out the proportion. I recently got the Hammer from the ZoF but it looks more like polo hammer then a weapon.
But I think it is a general problem with the Asura. The camera derps every time you want to do a jumping puzzle, the female asura got like 3 faces and 3 hair types that are not used by male. All armour types beside the culture armour are just downscaled human male armour, yes all even female asura got male models. I think can’t get myself to play a female Asura because of that.
I don’t know why but it seems to me like A-net just was under to much time pressure after the Charr came out.
They probably did this because long weapons like greatswords would clip into the ground because of how asura’s are proportioned: they have short legs.
What I’ve noticed is that many weapons also clip into asura’s ears. If they tilted the weapon more on asura models they would be able to increase the size of the weapon and prevent them from clipping into the ground or the player’s ears. I don’t know how difficult it would be programming wise but I hope we eventually get a weapon size increase.
My only regret for picking Asura for my main is that i can’t really show off my Armour or weapons.
As a thief I already don’t use any big weapons like greatsword or shield, instead I use pistols, daggers. And they are really tiny on him.
