I made an Asuran elementalist and I tried going with a d/d build because Lightning Whip – Mickey Rourke’s Whiplash would’ve been jealous of the skill. Then I use it a few times and there’s a whole new meaning to “whiplash”…on top of the fact that I don’t care for d/d on elementalist to begin with, this was a bit of a downer for me.

So I wanted to go with staff, because I’m a noob that enjoyes fire camping with Pyromancer’s Puissance and stacking might while I’m facetanking map completion – get over it.

But what staff would look good on elementalist? The clipping issues with the ears and the elongation of the staff usually gets to me – I’ve been comfortable with Kasmeer’s staff so far but I’d like to use Kasmeer’s staff on my mesmer (that pretty much looks like Kasmeer at this point because, let’s face it, Kasmeer looks awesome) and I’m a bit pedantic/OCD and it would bother me to use the same staff skin on two characters.

Any advice or should I just trash the asura?

The Zenith staff also retracts similarly, not as much of course, as kasmeer, but it does a bit.

I agree with that statement… never trash an asura.

Monsoon looks nice, costs like 2g, Combustion is nice as well for ele.

As far as “compacting” staffs, I think the only 3 in the game are Kasmeer’s, the Zenith Staff, and the Ley Line Staff.

It depends to a degree what ears your using on your Asura, but I think pretty much any staff is going to have some clipping with your ears no matter what. At least that’s been my experience, and in fact I just ran through every staff in the wardrobe and every one clipped at least a little. There are a few shorter ones that have minimal clipping though. Imyrldyeen, the Pearl Quarterstaff, the Seraph Staff, the Destroyer Staff, and the Verdant Staff are some of the shortest ones, I think (or at least the ones that stick up off your back the least).

The only solution I could come up with was to use a compacting staff. I use the Ley Line staff on my Elementalist and it works great with Wind Catcher.
