The "Infinity Ball" Storyline is genius!
Yeah i loved this, especially since on my Charr alt me and a friend had been discussing the events in Lornar’s Pass pondering their nature and origin; turns out I actually guessed it almost perfectly but got the source wrong (I suspected the inquest in a parallel timeline of universe).
It even fits my character perfectly, when I created them I had envisioned my character having illusions of grandeur with the plan to literally change the world. Only to find their personal story backs it up and it’s no illusion
Garnished Toast
I chose infinity ball as well and really enjoyed it. To be fair I haven’t tried the others, so I don’t have a basis for comparison.
I’ve yet to try out the Infinity ball line, so I can’t say anything about this unfortunately :c
But I heard from somewhere that people were saying that that line was the most disappointing…? I hope it’s as good as you three say it is ^^
Kraken, the others have their shine too. A Golem Fight Club in one line and flooding of the Council Chambers in the other. Not saying any more to avoid too big spoilers. The ones I mentioned barely count as ones but whatever. :P
Edit: Note to self, learn how to properly use the spoiler hiding function.
Edit2: I’d say the joke-line of the Asura, the one I at least find most hilarious, is the VAL-A golem. A butler golem goes on a murderous rampage and says things like “Polishing liver…. uhh, silver.” and such while trying to slaughter you.

Tastes differ.

Hmm.. yes, I believe you are right on this.

You should, if you want to know the full potential of the player asura’s genius!
@Ryuujin:
Yes, I was also pleased to see that the explanation of all that was the player asura.

For my main I chose infinity ball
SO MANY KITTENING RANDOM ALIEN BAD GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh and some destroyers
But sooo fun
I loved how your mentor didn’t had any weight on the decisions you made, it was all you.
Ehm, ok, your mentor didn’t made the choices but neither did we! I had to go after this other “unintelligent” asura and his stupid ideas even though i didn’t aggree with his outrageously demential plans.
BUT yes, other than that i really enjoyed the ending!

True, he convinced the PC to push the infinity ball to the limit. But it was more entertaining than being Zojja’s “apprentice”(that’s the impression I got from the other two stories).
IMO Asuras have the best “cultural” storylines, creative and fun. Followed by Sylvari and Charr stories.. Whats left after that feels just ‘meh’
i enjoyed infinity ball for what it was. it was certainly creative and it’s not every time you get to stray so far from your ordinary morally superior “good” character.
what didn’t make sense though and ultimately spoiled the last mission for me was…..
THERE BE SPOILERS HERE BEYOND THIS LINE
Why on earth would your future self (or alternative future self) want to kill your old self? that makes no logical sense that’s so ever. it’s a paradox.
in my opinion, they shouldn’t have attacked you first. instead they should have tried harder to persuade you and it should have been you – the character – who stroke the first blow after realising that’s not the future you wished upon yourself or anyone else.
just my two cents.
I think “you” are there to kill Zojja, not yourself.
(quotation taken from the Wiki:)
Mysterious Stranger: Hello, Zojja. Recognize me? I’m the one you tried to bully into subservience and mediocrity.
Mysterious Stranger: But I left you behind, and achieved greatness: I am the Grand High Sovereign of my reality.
Zojja: Whatever you call yourself, you don’t belong here. And you can’t stay.
Mysterious Stranger: I can do anything I want. And here, as in my world, the only obstacle to my transcendence is you.
Mysterious Stranger: To become all that I am capable of becoming, you must die. It’s my destiny…and my pleasure.

what I was referring to is the fact that while engaged in combat the “evil future you” will say something along the lines of “It is a shame to kill my old self, but it is necessary”.
that’s what’s bothering me.
That’s due to the fact that Current You sides with Zojja, realistically.
Also, the Ball shows possible timelines, thus slaying Current You !/= paradox, considering that Future You is not necessarily your Future You.
Considering my Asura’s class (Thief), I always figured she killed Future Her, then absconded with the magitech … too bad this kinda thing isn’t plot-doable.
Other 80s: Any but Warrior
Anyone get a “Community” vibe from this? I felt like I was fighting Abed from the darker timeline.
Which was awesome.
I know it would be impossible but I wish there was a way to side with your alternate self.
It would give me an excuse to have my character clad in all black and talk like “INSEID OF ZE FORTRESH, IS ZE DARK SEIDD”.
what happens if you pick the weather changing thingy called VAC?
what happens if you pick the weather changing thingy called VAC?
Inquest use it inside the councilor’s area and try to flood Rata Sum. It’s not that great imo.

Really? Wouldn’t that mean killing Councilor Flax (or whoever the Inquest representative on the Council) as well? And if he wasn’t there, wouldn’t the other Councilors have him arrested for attempting a coup?
Flax is not the Inquest representative, he’s the face of the Arcane Council.
And well…
The council doesn’t do kitten but cover their own kitten really.
In one of the lines, one of the councilors tries to murder every other one, and all the council does it “keep a closer eye” on that one councilor. The Arcane Council is considered to be a highly corrupt bunch.
I personally think this is the best storyline of the three. I’ve played them all and two of them several times. The one I think is the worst much be the weather changing thingie. That one was just boring and stale, for me at least. I do liked the story with the Golem as well. The Golem story and the one with the Infinity Ball are the ones I’ve played more than enough (I think I’ve played both story lines over 4 times each xD)
SPOILER ALERT
The think we need to remember is that what the Infinity Ball was showing didn’t have to be THE future but A future. If I’m not mistaken it could also show of other dimensions which would work well with the fact that the “future self” is ok with killing you. Think of it like this, for every choice you made there is a dimension where you made the other choice, which might create a whole new world. There might be dimensions in where your character died because of the choice made but that doesn’t mean there wont be any future you in any other dimension. Oh dear, this could get very complicated talking about how dimensions affect each other and so on and so forth. I for one didn’t have a problem with having my “future self” killing me to reach her goals of ultimate power. With my imagination, it fit perfectly.

Someone watched game theory.
I like to tell people: “You see those steam ogres? Those steam creatures? Yea… I made those.” or my favorite: “Someday, in some alternate universe/dimension… I will take over the world, whether it is this one.. who knows.”
