need a little help with Asure Elite skills.
Not exactly answering your questions, but from one asura guardian to another, forget all of the racial elites. Delete them from your memory. Renewed Focus is the only acceptable elite skill for an asura guardian (I stipulate asura because I don’t know how good other racials are).
Renewed Focus recharges your virtues and grants you two seconds of complete invuln in the meantime. It might not sound like much from the outset, but it:
- Is essentially an extra aegis — properly timed, you can survive boss attacks that would ordinarily kill you in a single hit.
- Lets you discharge your virtues a second time, which means more boons for your allies, and, if you have Altruistic Healing, that also means you gain health for every time you discharge.
- If you have Absolute Resolution (remove 3 conditions from everyone in earshot with F2), it means you can do it a second time, purging up to 6 conditions in a row. This is essential if you’re in dungeon that requires you to watch for conditions or if a necro in wub/pvp is wrecking your kitten.
tl;dr: Forget the racial elites, they’re mostly trash. I used the 7-Series for a while and while it’s alright, it’s pretty flimsy and the damage output doesn’t make up for it. D-Series only puts it’s shield up every once in a while, it doesn’t do damage or tank particularly well. Power suit is an absolute waste, very slow, doesn’t offer any extra def (like you might think it should) and small damage output.
The only racial skill of any race I find useful is the Druid Spirit for the Sylvari because it immobilizes enemies and can deal somewhat good damage.
The defensive golem is passable in that it can take a bit of damage and dish out a bit itself, plus its shield is helpful. The offensive golem is rather fragile. The suit is utter trash.
Agreed on the suit being trash. I only unlocked the suit so that I could mess around with friends and act intimidating for fun.
Aah fair enough, sadly I was kinda expecting this. Tbh Renewed Focus peaked my interest and was more than likely going to take the spot, I just wanted to check that the Asura skill weren’t super amazing or anything.
I actually tried a friends suit shortly after posting this and agree it is utter trash, which is a shame, because it looks boss
ah well, guess I’ll be going for the invincibility CD, what a shame :p
I have completely diffferent views on asurian elites then most posters here.
Power Suit – it’s epic! gatling fists rock for damage and whirling assault is best knockdown utility my guardian has. Just aim right and that spinning attack will put that puppy down for a while unless it’s size of godzilla. And if it is all the more you’ll want to use gatling fists doing sweet damage while keeping way waaaaay away from it.
It also comes with nice self -heal, and extra hp def for you. And what’s best, you control it, so no stupid ai walking it right into trap and you can dodge in it. Price for this is it being bit slow and no jumping. But it proved itself for me pve.
7-series golem – just as power suit it has gatling fists, and uses rocket punch when gatling is on cooldown. It’s basically assist in attacking and does very nice job at it as long as the ground ain’t full of traps. Also this guy is a major save if you get downed. There’s a reason guardian knows so many prayers – he’s gonna need them all when downed cause down there guardian is royally screwed. having this guy around doing real damage to monster is a huge chance that something will get killed before next elections and you will rally. His defences are low however and is less durable then it should in my honest opinion. On the plus side monsters are likely to attack target with highest defence – that is you, and leave him alone while he deals the pain.
D-Series golem. I don’t have this guy yet, but from what i saw he’s the reverse of 7-series golem. He’s the defensive type and his job is getting heat off you, while you lick your wounds. he uses basic 1-2 punch combo, and shield of absorption again keeping monsters off track to buy you precious time. His def is said to be higher then yours. His weaknesses is low attack power and obviously same ai problem that can have him walking right into ground trap etc.
Also both golems benefit from buffs like any ally in party so you can lend them a hand if you’re not busy rolling in dirt playing with bandages.

A bit slow? I don’t know about PvE but in WvW you are essentially freeloot the moment you enter the suit.
7-Series Golem suffers from bad pet KI. He is capable of range attacks but almost always directly walks towards the enemy to attack in melee range. Also very fragile and the duration seems too short.
D-Series Golem is halfway acceptable. Helped a bit with blocking the salves during the karka event but that’s basically it.
I’d honestly love to see all our racial elites removed and given something usable.

The suit needs a buff across the board, the golems need major health/defense buffs to make them PASSABLE, the defensive one needs its shield to appear in anticipation of enemy attacks, not randomly…
But Anet has better things to do, like adding flowers to the gem store.
I second the motion for stronger golems! We Asura build our golems with advanced Snaff technology. We take great pride in our illustrious golems. Yet when I summon them in WvW, I feel like I just sent a wind up toy into battle. I do use Series 7 on occasion. He’s good for 1v1 if he manages to get his duel ranged attack to proc. But I mostly use him to startle and distract. I used D golem once and watched him flail around and place defensive bubbles far away from me. He’s been gathering dust ever since. Is it too much to ask for better AI and tougher / stronger attacks? Golem pride!
Plus that suit is a walking coffin.
While I do agree it is trashy. I have had fun using the Power Suit’s helicopter attack in Wv3. If you get really lucky with timing, and the enemy is oblivious, you can whack an entire zerg as they go through a gate.
You can also VERY occasionally trick newer people into thinking you have Siege Golems.
