About the current music
You really said everything that needed to be said. Could not agree more.
Fully agreed, very good post. The soundtrack placement (and inclusion, clearly) could be much improved. They’ve done it once with LA, so I hope that one day they’ll take the time to add / improve all the rest as well.
The track “Zhaitan” plays during a cutscene related to Orr, while “The Saga of the Norn” plays during the opening playing a Norn character.

The point was that they could be used in so much more situations. There’s a lot of really good yet unused tracks. He never said that the Saga of the Norn wasn’t used, just that it should be in Hoelbrak.
I agree so much! Jeremy Soule is my favorite composer as well, and I own all four discs of this soundtrack and there are so many beautiful and interesting compositions that should be used.
There were a lot of times that I was really confused with the placement of the music in the personal story. The one that stands out the most was the cleansing of Orr. They picked the piano piece of “Fear Not This Night” to play during it. And it really took away from the epic feel of what was happening. You’re being swarmed by risen and the emotions expressed in the music don’t match what’s happening to your character. The music in that instance was very quiet, as well. I found that to be the biggest disappointment when it came to audio placement.
They seem to over use “Fear Not This Night” in the game. For example, it’s utilized when you view a vista in The Grove. Why not play a segment from “Ventari’s Legacy” or “Out of the Dream”? I agree with all of the points you listed. I hope we get to hear some more great compositions in the game.

Because Fear Not This Night is a really brilliant track and because of the lyrics Ree wrote for it and the recorded version of it the song is actually rooted in lore (pale tree pun). I did a mini skip for joy every time I did a vista in The Grove. Also, Vista’s in specific areas all use the same track, so that explains that bit for you. There is no more appropriate a track for Vista’s in the Grove than one sung by the pale tree herself! <— Insane Sylvari enthusiast, sorry.
