Dolby Digital/DTS Streaming cutting out

I have a Creative SoundBlaster x-fi fatal1ty in a pci-e slot that has worked perfectly for a couple years. I run a toslink cable to a Denon A/V receiver. I have windows set to encode the audio stream into either Dolby Digital surround or DTS surround and the receiver decodes, which works fine normally. I have an i7 920, 6 gigs of ram, a gtx 660, and Windows 7 64 bit. A few years old, but it runs almost everything (not gw2) at max settings w/o a hiccup.

Where I’m having issues is while playing GW2. When I’m in fights or situations where there are a lot of sounds going off at once, it will randomly just stop the DD/DTS stream for a few seconds, and I can see it dropping from my receiver as those lights go off. So this stops all sound from playing while it is going on. This doesn’t seem to be affected by changing any of the sound sliders regarding quality or latency in game. It also seems to have been introduced when culling was disabled. I was using DTS and switched to DD thinking it would have a lower bandwidth requirement, but no change, I’ve tried disabling any processing done on my computers end, but no change.

If I’m just out wandering around by myself, I don’t usually have a lot of problems, but grab a small set of mobs, a half dozen mesmer clones, and possibly another player or two, then there is a good chance the sound will cut out for a few seconds.

Anyone have anything similar happen and/or have fixes?
