I know it’s probably not a huge priority, but I figured I’d give some feedback on custom playlists now that I’m using them!

Feel free to add more feedback, and I’ll try to update this thread.

1. “Ambient” doesn’t work in Orr, Fireheart Rise, or dungeons, except in underwater sections.

2. Speaking of dungeons, a “dungeon” playlist would be nice. “Ambient” doesn’t always mesh with dungeon.

3. “Defeated” and “crafting” don’t seem to work at all.

4. “City” isn’t prioritized over “ambient” in cities.

5. “Boss battle” doesn’t work on dungeon bosses or open-world bosses, excluding the dragon events. Also, when they do work, the playlists aren’t random; the songs always go in order.

6. Death Shroud’s sound effect currently overrides and disables all custom playlists for Death Shroud’s duration.

7. Playlists sometimes pause for long periods of time.

8. In structured PvP, “battle” is always active. I actually like this, but there’s a problem with it where the playlist will sometimes stop playing or change songs.

9. Playlists sometimes stop working after death.

10. Playlists sometimes have songs go in order instead of randomly. This might be related to zone, but I haven’t tested it enough to know for sure.

All of these are true, good post! Also, sometimes the playlists will take a long pause and start playing again randomly.

“Defeated” isn’t a recognized playlist atm. That said, when you do go down in a fight whatever battle track was playing immediately stops and a new one comes on when you get back up, which is a real problem.

Yes some boss fight music doesn’t play when it should during boss fights, in particular Giganticus Lupicus always has no music for the first 2 stages, then music starts and then stops at the beginning of the third stage. And you are right, it never randomizes even with a blank randomizer track at the top of the list.

Main Menu music also never randomizes. It’s always the same songs in the same order over and over again.

Jumping puzzles vary in what music plays. Sometimes, nothing. In the case of the Clock Tower, the same boss battle song from my custom playlist played every single time the puzzle reset. For the Wintersday jumping puzzle, the default Wintersday song played despite having a custom soundtrack installed. Similarly, certain story missions will have default songs play in some quest sequences regardless of your custom soundtrack.

agreed, I’d suggest a number code for each zone/dungeon that we can type in a metadata field for each track.

Please fix the boss battle track. I spent 2 days finding the most epic songs..got 30 of em just for boss track only to realize it’s not even random so it kinda upsets me

Main Menu theme also doesn’t randomize..

We’ve been requesting a “randomize” feature for BossBattle since months, but still nothing was said about it by developers.

Whether something is either wrong or right, someone will always complain about it.

“Battle” and “BossBattle” are extremely soft these days. They were not during BWE or launch. It’s really annoying, since I tend to populate those lists with stuff like Japanese metal.

2. I also hate the fact that certain game music overrides our playlist choices (especially in dungeons and story missions). I really would like to be able to turn this off. The CoF and CoE themes are getting really old now.

3. I believe this is only an issue for LA. Other cities do play tracks from City. That said, it does need to be addressed, as LA is the go-to city hub for most players.

8. Battle music in sPvP often fades out to silence as soon as a battle is about to begin (when we approach a point or an enemy)… Anti-climatic much?

In addition to your list, I also hope to have the MainMenu playlist extended until the loading screen ends. Having to stare at a static background is bad enough, why give us silence as well?

Also, it would be amazing if the game could pause and resume the current track instead of starting from the beginning of the next track when the playlist changes from ambient → battle → ambient.

I’ve also noticed that my ambient playlist isn’t randomizing in the Charr starting area. Is this specific to location or a bug in general?
