GW2 Dont recognize USB Headset after patch.
I’m having the same issue. Everything was fine before the patch and I had my device in the game’s option menu set to my USB headset last time I played.
Now I only have ‘default device’ as an option in the GW2 option menu and am unable to change it. The game’s sound will only play through my headset. I have tried changing the default device in windows 7 but it makes no difference the sound will still only play through the headset.
Hmm, curious. Without knowing what you have tried in troubleshooting thus far, can you try unplugging/replugging the headset when the game is closed? If that does nothing, can you try while it is open?
OK cool, unplugging and re-plugging while the game is running has sorted it for me. Thanks
I have a similar problem. All of my sound device options were gone except for default device (used to have 6 different audio devices listed), and while unplugging and re-plugging my headset while the game was running fixed it, the problem resumed as soon as I restart the game, meaning I have to unplug and re-plug my headset every time I launch the game.
The real difference is that I have always had a problem with in game audio. When I used to launch the game I would have the music playing normally, but the menu and combat sounds would only (or predominantly) play from the right side. I used to go to audio device and swap off of my Logitech G35 headset to one of the other options, then swap back to my G35, all sounds would then play normally. I had to do this before loading into the game proper, in other words while I was still on character select, or it would not work to fix my audio balance issues. Also if I launched the game and my audio device was on anything other than my G35 at start then I would be unable to fix anything no matter how much I swapped between devices, I would have to set the device to G35 and then exit out of the game and log back in, at which point I could do my swapping to fix the balance. No amount of audio driver or OS twiddling has ever resolved this, but since I had a work-around I did not consider it that big of a deal.
That is what used to be the case. What is now happening is that I launch the game and I only have default device in the audio device drop down menu. So my audio is right balanced and I can’t do anything about it. I unplug and re-plug my G35 and I get all the options back in the drop down, but no amount of swapping between devices will rebalance my non-music, game audio (such as the menu and combat sounds).
I have however discovered that putting my G35 into dolby surround mode will cause all my sounds to play normally, but, I find dolby surround to be annoying and slightly disorienting, I would prefer to not play the game with this headset mode enabled.
Anyway, since playing with all of my in game sounds completely right balanced is nauseating and makes the game unplayable, I will be playing in dolby surround until this audio device business is sorted.
Logitech G35 headset.
Windows 7 64-bit.
Built-in audio on the Asus P8P67 Deluxe Motherboard.
Relevant drivers are up to date.
Thanks for your time.
Same type of issue here – I have USB speakers that are no longer listed by the game, and neither are several other output options that I never paid much attention to but nevertheless were available before.
The USB speakers are not the default device, but I had them selected in GW2 before the patch and now they’re still used even though “default device” is shown as selected in the game options, making it impossible to switch to the real default device.
Same issue. Pre-Patch I had 3 options (default and my two soundcards), now I only have default.
Plugging the USB Soundcard is not an option, as the plug is not easily reachable.
Adding my feedback to this one too, same issue, windows 7 64-bit, corsair vengeance 1500 USB headset with the latest 2.0.26 drivers, only shows “Default Device” in the sound output list. Luckily the headset is my only output device so it works flawlessly (My other outputs are all disabled in device manager since I don’t use them) Just I can’t select the headset directly in the options now, just shows default only.
Thanks for the reports, everyone. We’ll get this sorted out ASAP. Until then, if you need a workaround, updating your Playback Devices at the OS level will update the Audio Device options. Enabling/Disabling a device or swapping Default Devices, etc.
And for your issue with the G35, TwoPiArrrr, I’ll look into that today as well. I think we have one of those around here somewhere.
After reading this thread, I went to see if this also applied to my setup. I’m using using Jabra Rox Bluetooth earbuds on a USB Bluetooth 4.0 dongle.
From the character select screen, I brought up the Options panel and switched to the Bluetooth Audio Renderer (Stereo). At first, I didn’t hear anything, so I started trying out the other Bluetooth audio options. When I switched to Bluetooth Hands-free audio (mono), I was able to hear the theme music, but very faintly. I turned up the volume on my headset and tried the Stereo option again, and was able to hear the music.
Satisfied that I didn’t have the problem, I exited the game, but then remembered that I forgot to switch back to the default sound device. so I restarted the game and went back to the audio options panel, but was only able to select the default sound device, which was still playing through the Bluetooth headset, instead of through the sound card (Realtek ALC898 on the ASRock FM2A85X Extreme6 motherboard).
Then I exited the game once again, turned off the headset, then restarted the game. The audio was then playing through the sound card, but the audio options still gave the “Default Sound Device” as the only device option.
So it seems that this problem also applies to USB Bluetooth devices as well as USB headphones. I’m also using 64-bit Windows 7 with the latest generic Windows USB Bluetooth device drivers (updated when I first connected the Jabra Rox headphones a week ago).
I’m having the same problem with not being able to select my Logitech G930’s in my Audio Device option. All I have is “Default Device.” Please fix this Anet. Thank you.
TwoPiArrrr, it sounds like you’re having an issue with speaker configuration. There’s a helpful post here on the Logitech forums that should resolve your issue with the panning.
Keenan, that did indeed resolve my audio balance issues, thank you so much. The issue of missing audio devices in the GW2 sound options panel remains, but no longer impacts me in any meaningful way since my default device is my G35 headset.
Once again, thank you.
Same issue. Only ‘default device’ while I had about 6 options before. I use to select ‘speakers’ when playing solo and ‘G35 headset’ when in group. All audio devices (speaker, headset, SPDIF out,…) are working fine at OS level, but once GW started nothing works. I do get the ‘speakers’ working when I swap back to OS level and force speaker as default playback device.
Also having problems here,with a weird side-effect.
After switching my Default Playback Device from Headphones to Speakers in Win7,Gw2 started playing through my headphones(So,the opposite of what i want).
At least switching the playback device caused Gw2 to recognize my audio devices ingame.
