Guild Wars 2

I know he voices almost every video game character that’s been created in the last decade, but I just needed to say that I LOVE his work on the Human Male in Guild Wars 2. It really is one of his best roles imo.

I tried him out in SWTOR (Male Jedi Knight) and, man… I know Jedi are supposed to be emotionless, but… yawn.

Well in this game he delivers an exceptional performance given that the character is such an unknown quantity to him, and largely created by the player. He fits my Warrior perfectly, so thanks.

But who is the human female voice actress? She did extremely well, too. I heard it’s “Elena from Uncharted”?

Seriously? I found the human male to be boring and always seemed to talk in the same, non caring tone. Maybe the writing is to blame.

I agree with the OP! He really did a good job with the voice over and I love playing my male human characters because of it. ^^

Agreed with OP. Most of the male Human quips have made me chuckle at some point or try to repeat what I did in order to make my character say it again.

My personal favorite is one from completing a dungeon… “That was fun! Let’s do it again!”

I was like WHOA BUDDY THIS COULD BE TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT.

“I achieve things. I’m an achiever!”

And thanks for the tips about the Human Female. I couldn’t get into the Norn Female because of the harsh voice (though I’m sure some will love it), so I’ll try out the Human instead =)

As one of the few people on the planet who didn’t know who Nolan North was prior to GW2, his work here inspired me to seek out information about his vast and varied other work (including that amazing Christopher Walken impression—“Dirty…little fins…”) But he is still first and foremost MY character—fits him perfectly! I’m so grateful.

Excellent job on human male voice for sure.

I personally consider Nolan to be one of the best voice actors in the industry at the moment.

But I found his performance in GW2 to be very bland. I have never heard him sound so dull (though I have not played SWTOR).

I too think he sounds fantastic, I rolled human on my first character because I enjoyed his voice so much while playing in the beta. It was (one of many) happy surprises I got when I first started playing. First thing that came to mind when he first spoke was “They got Nolan North to do the player character’s voice?! Aw yeah, this is going to be amazing!” Have yet to be disappointed, with his acting or anyone else’s.

I don’t know about April’s voice over for gw 1 and 2, I mean, my characters were/are supposed to be Canthan and in GW 2 sound much lighter tone/girly than the deep voice we had in both games for female. The only voice sound I think fits is /cheer and /laugh especially that cute “YAY!” the female human does when cheering occasionally. If we were allowed to pick a single sound off, it would be that for my female humans when they /cheer.

The deep female voice over fits more for most warriors and guardians (not mine) and not so much beautiful more charismatic types such as ele and mesmer.

I haven’t played my Male Human Ranger that much but he seems ok so far.

I am making a human male warrior soley because I like how he says ‘shake it off’ when using that shout. It sounds epic.

Completely agree! Mr. North does a fantastic job! When I found out Mhenlo’s voice actor from GW1 was doing the male human player character in GW2, I already knew who my main was going to be.

I love it when my engineer tosses down a turrent and says, “Another fine example of engineering!” or, after a combo, “That went better than I expected!” It’s amazing how Mr. North infuses so much personality and “cool factor” into those one-liners. Not to mention all the cutscenes, where he sounds like he is really invested in what’s at stake in the story. Makes you feel like your character is a real hero and a darn awesome guy.

Nolan North didn’t do the Male Jedi Knight, that was David Hayter. He did the Male Jedi Consular.

I love Nolan’s voice on the human male characters. Make them sound like the epic, calm and caring type Not to mention it sounds funny at times (In a good way)

I LOVE the voice in cutscenes. I’m somewhat disappointed I don’t get to hear his voice anymore after I complete the personal storyline.

Outside cutscenes his voice is a little corny though. I’m not sure why but it’s probably the lines more than the voice “Urge to kill rising!”
