Yeh..it was amusing for like 5 mins, now you can get rid of it. I KNOW lots of people seem to think this event is cute..but personally, would have preferred the effort put into it was placed in a proper additional dungeon instead. And did it REALLY have to spill over into the open world??

I did purchase GW1, though I only played it for a very short time, so this is mostly hear-say.

From what I understand is Anet takes holidays seriously and at one time took solid content seriously, but playing GW2 I know this isn’t true and Anet had said themselves that they would not be releasing content like they had in GW1.

What I have noticed in GW2 is: 1 time events, and big holiday events. Open world content seems to be lacking, patches are shallow coincidentally right before, or right after a holiday. Meaningful content is so sparse that it will be consumed for months over and over before the next sparse update.

It’s personal preference, get used to it.

People will say “no big deal”.

But that theme has been evocative for me since seeing the first promo vid of Devona. It is a grand theme, all through GW1, the Credits in the End instances, the music always had meaning and feeling to me.

What they did to it is criminal. I cannot get out of the selection screen fast enough. This should not have been done to such a nice bit of music.

Why they cheapen their own creation is beyond me.

This is now the third or fourth post that I see kittening about the fun content, as I said before relax or ignore it. And yes it’s kittening around…..8 bit music on the login screen omg can’t take it my world is serious please, no can’t take 3 sec of 8 bit music while I log in….sorry but this is pathetic.

There’s no way to make absolutely everyone happy. Guess you fall into that minority, but as for the rest of us…

I’m not usually one to call people out when they’re being ridiculous, but in this cause…you’re being ridiculous.

You know it’s not a permanent change, and you must understand how cool this is for so many players who grew up loving retro gaming.

Look, I’ll be the first one to support you if you have a legitimate concern with the game, but in this case, you are just looking for problems. There is no reason why this should bother you as much as it does, nor is there any reason why you can’t mute your speakers for the two seconds it takes to click your character selection.

I agree completely that you are entitled to your opinion on this content and that if you don’t like the content you can let ArenaNet know why. No one should tell you to stop having different opinions.

However, looking at your post somewhat objectively, you, too, are asking for something to be changed because you don’t like it. You even admit that some people do like it. Asking for certain types of content to be removed or never created because of our likes and dislikes is just as bad as someone telling you that your likes and dislikes are not valid.

That said, while the Box will remain all month in the game, it may very well be that the character select music is just for today. If it is not, put in a polite suggestion that it be changed back for the remainder of the event. I don’t happen to mind it because I know it is short term no matter what, but I respect that you don’t like it and I think a decent compromise would be to have the music change for only this day (or maybe the week if they want it a bit longer) rather than the whole month.

I hope you still have fun with the rest of the game.

Nope..I acknowledged that lots of people like the event..but a lot don’t.

.. The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few.
That and you can mute the games sound/music and listen to your own in the mean time.

I think there should be a small toggle button for either sound in the option menu, problem solved.

Not when you have 8 alts to cycle through. Fun is very subjective – some derive fun from trolling for example.

Music is cool for the first 8 times I heard it though. Still is but I prefer the old theme song back pls.

Not really. I made Bolt simply because I couldnt stand the mesmer auto swing sword which is also present in Guardian Hammer and GS autoattack.

Not that I find the 8 bit music as irritating now – but get back to me in 30 days.

Unlike auto attacking, alt swapping doesn’t happen as often. If it’s so annoying to the point I’d play the game less, I wouldn’t mind muting my sound or taking my headphones off for a second as I swap.

While we are somewhat on the issue of noise pollution, I am almost glad for KR nerf to remove the medkit KR sound effect.

The music at the character screen I couldn’t care less about, but those bells have absolutely got to go.

Agree, the 8 bit midi load screen music has GOT TO GO. It sucks, it’s not funny and it made me not want to play until this “event” is over. There is a thing such as overdoing April 1 ya know.

Eh… am I the only one that pauses and listens longer than that?

I actually turned on my music for the work of auditory art that is the character select screen in 8-bit. It’s that good.

Like you said, can’t please everyone. So while the rest of us enjoy the limited edition sounds, you can mute your speakers during start up until it’s gone.

That’s what I would do. Life’s one big compromise int he end, everyone can’t be happy all the time.

For those who are really bothered by the music, I suggest you quickly toss together a Custom Soundtrack. Get a few songs or tracks you like or use the original menu music if you have the soundtrack, make a playlist called MainMenu, and put it in your Documents\GuildWars2\Music folder.

I’d like it if at least they wouldn’t override your “Menu” playlist.

When they first allowed us to test this feature, I even tried it with a chiptune, the awesome menu music from Cave Story. I didn’t like it then, because it didn’t fit.

For those who are really bothered by the music, I suggest you quickly toss together a Custom Soundtrack. Get a few songs or tracks you like or use the original menu music if you have the soundtrack, make a playlist called MainMenu, and put it in your Documents\GuildWars2\Music folder.

I have a “Menu” playlist already, it has been overridden.

How curious, it worked for me earlier. In that case the only consolation I can offer is that it seems like you can change the date of your computer to bring it back to normal.

First world problems. Also not to sound like a complete kitten but it amuses me that someone who’s account name of Khal Drogo is throwing a hissy fit about login music.

Since when does the audio team work on designing dungeons?
