The shot sound on the legendary Predator rifle has a different sound now. What gives? Is this an audio bug or intended? I miss my old scifi sound already.

Any way to get a toggle or something to let the player decide if they want fire or plasma? I liked the way my rifle was prepatch.

I don’t like the new sounds at all.. Guess I’ll use my p/p build from now on..

But, i think everyone with The Predator will agree that the new sound is really, really odd.
First of all i must say i actually enjoyed the new color/glow effects, despite the glow(happens with any Legendary aura/glow effecs) aren’t visibles in Charr’s characters.

This new sound doesn’t look like to a fiery theme, it’s really sound like a “bug”.
By the way, i have a request for the ANET team. If you look into a normal rifle, each skill have a different sound effect, and this doesn’t happens to the Legendary rifle. Would be really interesting if we had different sounds for each skill just like any normal rifle, since it’s a Legendary Weapon.

A lot of us worked hard to get this Legendary only for you guys to change it on us with no warning, would love some help on this.

I don’t really understand how someone got it in their heads that changing the looks (or sounds, unless they were just using standard sounds) of legendaries people already have is a good idea. Surely they most have known that some people would be unhappy that the item they spent so much time acquiring is no longer the thing they have.

I think, as was suggested, if you are going to do this sort of thing, then it should just be a toggle on the item. I don’t think you should go changing some of the hardest-to-acquire items in the game on people, unless there is a compelling gameplay reason. It just seems kind of wrong, frankly. Obviously, what is “better,” as looks and sounds go, is always going to be subjective and will vary from person to person. The bottom line is that people worked towards one thing and now they have essentially had it exchanged for something else without their consent.

(I guess that there are probably not many people who will complain about additional particle effects where there were none before, however, though I’m sure even that has its limits.)

i just finished my predator yesterday…

farming for… maybe 2 1/2 months… even before the january update… just for that sound.

and now you take it off?

ok, you can add things (glows, steps, etc), but change the MAIN feature of it… that pium pium… is priceless, it’s a big change… and i don’t like it… i invested more than 1000gold on it… and it’s a shame.

not happy here, and that new sound… it’s just… meeeh.

Change it back please! The sound effect was by FAR the best part of the weapon. Now I can barely tell the difference between the sounds of my legendary and my elixir gun!

I loved the old sound to that’s why I wanted to craft this for my warrior. I don’t know if I should continue to craft it as I almost have everything to craft it.

As a proud owner of this amazing rifle ( predator ) I am very very sad that best sound in game from all weps is changed into somethink what kill my ears. I had to shut down sounds just because this sound is so terrible.

Other legendary weps have beatiful skins and animations and no sound. Predator had not so good skin and animation compared to Sunrise or Twilight but had amazing sound and you just changed it :/

incredilbly disappointed with this ninja change to the legendary rifle.

the ENTIRE reason that i spent so much time going for the legendary and the reason i chose this one, was the audio from each shot.

This new audio sound, is bad. Just bad. There’s no two ways around it. The sound doesn’t fit the gun. Sure. Maybe the previous sound didn’t fit the gun either, but it was still better than this new audio and i think you should have atleast considered making a SIMILAR sound more towards a very small edit to what it was..

+1 to reverting the sound effects. The flame effect just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

Hi Cody, thanks for a reply. I’m not happy with the new sound change. I spent a lot making my rifle because of the sound and now its gone.

Please revert it back or tune up the new sound so it’s on par with the pew pew sound.

Wow I dont even own or plan to ever go for the preditor but I feel sorry for all those who made this legendary. The new sound fx is soooo bad, not special at all! If u want to get a fiery swoop sound effect spam 1 with a sword on a warrior.

As the other 99.99% of people who own or plan to own the legendary rifle The Predator I would like the old sound effect of The Predator to be returned, I’m guessing it is as simple as overwriting the new sound file with the old one and issuing a patch out, please without further delay resolve this issue, many people that made the rifle are heartbroken and many more who want to make it are hopelessly lost now! A sad day indeed… You can easily see that people feel cheated on, there is NO, I repeat NO positive feedback on this change, that is more than enough convincing power for the good people at arenanet to revert this sound effect change, I hope you people understand and that we can all agree this wasn’t called for!

I build Predator for his awesome scifi sound, know fire effect+star wars sound isnt perfect combo, but its unique and its the reason why I built this epic rifle. Hope u return old sound because now I give it to bank and start longbow or another rifle. This sound is a big fail.

The new sound is terrible. It is so annoying especially when u keep volleying. I don’t see how this sound is suppose to fit a fire theme. It sound like my speakers have been dunked under water (aka broken). Please give us back the old sound or at least come up with something better.

I kinda skimmed these posts but I don’t think I noticed anybody actually preferring the new sound.
My boyfriend and I both have the Predator, and we both don’t like it either. Personally the pewpew sound effect was one of the main reasons I decided on the rifle (As a main engi, I didn’t have TOO many options anyways)

If they can revert the mist weapons back to how they where before the patch why won’t they do this to the predator

it sounds like the 5th warrior horn skill “Call To Arms”

if you guys listen to that skill sound. You’ll know it’s the predator sound.

I feel for ya bro, they nerfed my Greatsaw sound into the ground, and now I can’t hear it at all. I know that everyone worked very hard to get their weapons, and it is devastating to one day discover that the weapon that you worked so hard for has suddenly been made into a joke. They really need toggles for these kinds of changes, so as to not ruin anyone’s hard earned prize.

Woahhh absolute 100% of negative responses. I think this is a CLEAR indicator of something going wrong and needing a revert.

I don’t have it, but was thinking about getting one. I hope it changes back.

And I didn’t know about the change from plasma to fire, but we already have too many fire weapons, plasma is far more unique. If the sound change was to make it fit with the new appareance, maybe the best change would’ve been to revert the appareance change instead.

“Oh hey, so I heard you like your red Ferrari. Well, we decided to go and swap it out for a green Audi R8. Enjoy!”.

I don’t have a Predator but I can imagine its something like that. I hope you guys can get the change undone.

changing the sound on the gun is like taking away the unicorns and rainbows from the bow. Everyone would be angry and noone would want it.

Yeah… We would like a Yes or No answer. But I’d say we all in here agree we do not like the new predator sound. 100% negative feedback on that.

I’ve been eyeing this legendary as my next in-game goal, but now I’m seriously reconsidering if this change sticks. What an awful decision. The rifle’s sound effects before were unique and desirable, now they are just something that would make me turn my sound down.

But with this legendary they think the new sound will grow on us. It like if you where working towards a super car that has a cool engine noise and and can’t wait to get it then all of a sudden the company decides to replace it with a tractor engine..

Keep in mind that feedback sample from legendary owners is a lot smaller than those who have acquired exotics. That means the power of our voices comes not in numbers!

yep, actually… we are “owners” of the most expensive rifle on the game, and one legendary weapon, that we build trough blood and tears.

as i said before… they change the MAIN feature of the item..
the skin? meeh, actually the hunter is better in my opinion, the aura and footsteps?… twilight ones are a loot better… the sound? oh god… that’s amazing!! i want this now!!… that was the Legendary thing on this item!! if you want to introduce a “fiery” one, do another new!! and watch how people still craft the predator only for the sound fx!!!

After hearing the sound, I am VERY disappointed!

Please turn it back ANET. The old sounded powerful, as if it broke the sound barrier. But this new one is just.. Are my speakers underwater?

+1 to changing it back to the original pewpew sound. Took me exactly 6 months to work on mine for my fiery charr, I made it only last Sunday. And I was only able to experience and hear the majestic pewpewing that I worked so hard for for a grand total of TWO DAYS.

The visual update was awesome, I’ll grant you that, but I specifically chose The Predator because of that cool sci-fi-ey sound “misplaced” in the GW Universe. It was epic.

Now it makes me sound like just another member of the Flame Legion wielding a flame-gun.

The enemy, can you believe it.

We are very pleased. Just keep in mind that the sound effects of the original Predator do not sound off at all if you interpret it as a blast so powerful, it creates a sonic boom.

maybe asking too much, but will projectile go back to the old purple because that was lovely. Also, the engineer tool belt skills were pretty cool too.

Will these changes be rolled back as well.
