Hi there @ Arenanet

After playing GW2 for so long I come over a thing which I wish to see updated in this game: Music (-style)

By this I don’t mean new orchestral songs as you added in the last update (good work by the way!) but some new kind of musics from different genres. There are so many races in this game and some of your audio tracks already are attached to their “culture”, but I think there could be more difference.

For me I would like to see some acoustic guitar tracks (typical campfire style) or some folksy stuff – for example as many D&D games offer. For the Asura maybe you will find a way to add some electronic/modern stuff (that fits the game of course), for the Sylvari something more natural, maybe “elfish” or old Irish or Gaelic based. The Charrs could even get some (soft) metal-like music matching the steampunk environment.

I mean I love the music in GW2 , I often listen to the soundtrack when I am offline, even sometimes when driving (it helps in traffic ;-) but I really wish to see (hear) some more variety.

There are many (older) games out there that have those special songs and soundtracks that stay in your ears long after playing them (or even can get you awake during the game). If you remember it, see the Song “Scroll” from “Lords of the Realms 2” for example – it’s very old so bad quality and a little naive of course but a really catchy tune. Or see Baldur’s Gate 2 of course. In GW2 there only seem to be the main theme, then a long time and then all this medieval “easy-listening”-stuff played by the same orachestral line-up (nothing against the composer, I really appreciate him, but it all sounds like the Elder Scrolls ;-).

Edit: Ok, I will add this after first comment: Of course you can play your own track-list even from your standard music player, but that was not what I intended. It of course should fit and integrate into the GW2 world.

You can also customize your play list of songs that play on GW2, there was a guide on GW2 wiki how to do it…

Customized Soundtrack

Now you need to get the songs you like.

I’m a casual PvE adventurer, I enjoy combat, adventure and helping, but not farming.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

Just paying Jeremy Soule to sit down and crank out whatever he wants to GW2-wise for about a month would produce some very nice results.

I think the music’s awesome, there just needs to be more of it.

And don’t worry, though Mr. Soule specializes in orchestration, he’s done a ton of different soundtracks and is quite capable of bringing whatever makes sense to the table.

Respect.

Jeremy Soule is no longer associated with Guild Wars 2. Maclaine Deimer is the new composer, as well as Leif Chappelle. They are both fantastic. I’m really impressed with Maclaine’s Dry Top music.

Well in that case, turn them loose on the rest of the game world.

Yeah, I feel like there used to be more music reminiscent of GW1 in the game. Then again, that one song that’s been playing in LA non-stop since the end of Season 1 has kind of had me muting the game and listening to other music a lot.
