I play a Norn mainly and I love the ambient sounds of the homesteads, but I think they could really use some native Celtic/Nordic music, even just one instrument like a bodhran or flute music that only queues in when you enter the house or tavern. Not sure if this should go here or the suggestion forum but what do you guys think?

I agree. I think the soundtrack could use some simpler tracks such as a solo instrument in places like taverns or small villages. Not everything in the world is epic

I agree 100%!

I think LOTRO did a great job in this respect. In certain “civilized” areas like the Shire or Breetown, or Inns, they had great simple music that actually felt like part of the world. What I mean is that it felt like people in the world were playing the music, not a soundtrack. There were simple instruments playing, clapping sounds, feet tapping, etc. A great touch.

Yup, this would be nice – as the poster said above, some bits of music that sound ethnic like they might be being produced by local NPCs, rather than a full-on orchestra. Especially in areas of rest, or places like the “moot” in Timberline Falls, etc.

I agree 200%, and I have already made a thread about this, the game needs so many more music themes, like in WOW

when I first heard the ambient audio clips of crowds of people they released on the gw2 website my first thought was “finally!” a game with a living world of audio, I really hope they take it a step farther and add music being played by the npc’s in certain areas.
