This might be because I was for 6 years a WoW player and in that game they where top class in the music department.

While I don’t dislike JS music, I can’t help but feel he isn’t at his best in this game.
Aside from trailers and some rare scenes you won’t hear something memorable, and the music while traveling the wolrd and changing locations in the whole game feels pretty much the same. In WoW each area had some unique themes that fited the invaroment and created some unique and very serious atmospheres despite the cartoony graphics. In GW2 on the other hand I can’t feel any moment being serious, part of it beign the bad writing and geneally bad story delivery (but that’s another topic), and the other part is because most of the time the soundtrack doesn’t help… at all! I could gather all the music I’ve heard while playing the game in a single MP3 and nobody would notice that it’s actually many pieces of music together.
Lets take for example the theme of the Humman, Norn and Charr, as it was heard in the trailer that introdiced them where their themes play back to back one after another. I could swear that I was hearing deferent parts of the same song there!

It’s not like JS music is bad, it’s just that it lacks a certain… variety, and it fails to fit the moment. I doubt he ever though of using a cello or female vocals.
IMO The game would had benefited greatly if they had 2 composers with deferent styles to compose for the areas and situation they are best at. Have “the non-Jeremy Soule one” compose the parts that are sadder or more mystic, and let Jeremy Soule compose battle musics, epic events and Charr area music. It would also make the events in Orr feel more importand (like a real war) if they had a deferent and/or more epic music acompaning them.

What do u think?

…and don’t be toxic!

Alot of the music, at least in the lower-level areas, is recycled from GW1. So you’re basically hearing 7-8 year old music.

I like the music in Orr actually. It’s dramatic and suggestive, just as it would be as you enter the ruins of cursed city that sat for centuries on the bottom of the ocean.

Have you perhaps ever done a world boss event like Claw of Jormag? I’m sure the music won’t disappoint you there.

Whether something is either wrong or right, someone will always complain about it.
