The Quaggan pirate line was amazing for sure. The two that I hear often in LA that always make me smile are “By Ogden’s Hammer, what Savings!!” and the Skritt couple by the bank bridge talking about the sewer entrances “…people don’t go there, but I wanna live there”. (or any Skritt line, for that matter – totally dig the sneaky, skittish way they sound – very amusing.)

“Agony! Torment! Pain!”

The best part is when you have the trait that makes you heal nearby allies after channeling that skill. Odd how no one wants to stand close to someone chanting that though :-)

But the one that gets me annoyed in l.a all the time is a conversation one with two women talking about deals. And one just says: “you gotta know where to look…and how to ask” all conceited and so manipulative and..ughh!

Take heed! lady in Hoelbrak makes me hate even going to the city. I also loathe the Sylvari cook in Lion’s Arch with his Never leave a wrong line.

We were told ages ago that the audio team was going to look into cutting down the frequency of paticularlly obnoxious NPCs but i’ve not seen any evidence it happened in game.

I have to say though.. after being used to my female charr ele’s lines for swaps/arcana, hearing the male norn ele’s from a friends character just made me laugh. They certainly got the short end of the being an ele audio stick.

My guildies often recite my swap lines in a sing-song voice. ‘Might makes right!’ is a paticular favorite.

For Great Justice, however, is so irritating I cannot bring myself to use the skill anymore. Mostly because a guildmate spammed it all the time in groups and we got tired of our ‘For kitten justice!’ jokes (It’s not a swear, by the way. The forum is just overly babysittery and thinks someone might feel their intellegence was insulted by it).

Yeh, I really grew to love that one, as said in the first post :P.

I would seriously love if they made an exotic hammer named Ogden’s Hammer. I would SO buy that for my Warrior. And there already is the Ogden’s Armor set.

“Everyone, come!” It’s the only Risen shout that makes me laugh.

As I play shout warrior on one of my characters, I hear For Great Justice and the others far too often. And as I’ve done a lot of tailoring on another, I never want to hear “My ears, how are you?” ever again. And the women talking about bargains in LA drive me even more to distraction.

Ogden’s Hammer better be a new legendary. Particle effects would be cash money dropping off of you every swing.

On topic, my fav is “For the Matriarch!” in that young harpy voice.

The constant shouting of “For great justice” I hear in every group event gets pretty old. I keep expecting to hear “All your base are belong to us” as a follow up.

Every NPC that stands by the entrance to a dungeon spam their texts so often, that i mute the sound: We have cleared the entrance to the citadel of flame! and so on… also combination of the NPC at the HoTW entrace and the NPC which shout to rescue castaways (dynamic event) is terrible (the event is very often up and that norn woman speaks too much).

None. It took me roughly two days of “for great justice!” and “I can outrun a centaur!” to set my dialogue volume to 0 .

It would be really nice if there was a way to disable the volume of all the “spammy” talk, while keeping real dialogue enabled.

We marked those lines for a rewrite because the norn don’t really pray to the spirits. For whatever reason they didn’t get addressed (tools bug? oversight? budget?) so we’re sort of stuck with them for now. We may change some of them the next time the actors come back.

How about “I plead” or “I speak” instead of “I pray”?

Now you’d think I’d hate this line but it reminds me of a bunch of mostly forgotten 4chan memes.

Amusingly enough the only one that has ever bothered me was the “CITZENS” by the gate. But that got fixed rather quickly.

(I’d like to note that a few of your NPCs in southsun cove also have the same issue as blingg. Mostly event announcers.)

Although I do kinda wish I heard HOO-RAH from my female charr more. For an engie build focused on everything that is guns and nades, its rarely comes up.
Also the lack of “DIE”.

Personally if you ask me we just need a bit more diversity in what ALL races and characters say. And a bit more consistency in certain situations well.

i loathed levelling tailoring

theres this nps who keeps saying in La while you level up cooking….“never leave a wrong,to ripen to evil”…ALL THE TIME!! ^^

“Receive the light! Receive the light! Receive the light!”
“Feel my wrath! Feel my wrath! Hit them hard!”
“Why won’t anyone… help me?”
“Initiating feedback loop!”

The generic racial quotes you hear ten million times hanging around crafting stations – God do I get sick of the endless “Never leave a wrong to ripen into evil” and “Ideas are like cream, good ones rise to the top.”

At least the ‘unique to that pair of npcs standing over there’ quotes are often funny, even if you’ve heard them a million times, ie the ‘ogdens hammer’ and ‘water-closets’ exchanges. That being said, the latter’s gotten pretty old.

A new contender for the title after running around in Salma’s Heath last night:

I find it ironic this plays when your pet dies.

Also, there was a hilarious conversation in DR where two male NPCs kitten about their wives and then start talking about how attractive Logan Thackery is. I haven’t come across it in a while

I recently decided to actually play my ranger, and I am hearing “I’ll revive you soon” or whatever a lot lately. I am the worst.

Oh man, I really hope you get a chance to change them/replace them. Even aside from any in-game lore errors, this line always seems to be delivered so kitten and lazily [you’d think something like this would be jarring or important to the character saying it] and also just kind of comes out of nowhere (why is the merchant I have accosted to engage in trade suddenly informing me about her spiritual issues?!).

For some reason every time I log on, the first time my male charr mesmer draws his greatsaw he goes “WAHOO!”

also I’m at the point where I can recite all of the mantras from memory XD

The “Take Heed…” lady is horrible. I literally hear her non-stop. She finishes the line, a beat, she says it again etc.

Also, the Crafting, Bank and Trader NPCs need tobe seriously toned down. By the very nature of what they are, people constantly trigger them.

The one line I hear the most?

“Tell me humming bird. How does one fight…the wind?”

Granted I could listen to it all day with that epic VO. Anyone know who is the VO for the Modiniir Ulgoth?

“ARISE MY MINIONS ARISE!!!” or “I’ll never forget you… you nameless thing” has made me stop using minions on my Asura Necro.

I’ve got two might-stacking Charr, one an Elementalist and one a Mesmer. So, you can guess what I’m hearing every six seconds.

While “For Great Justice” is a little lore-goofy for both (duty? sure. rules? yep. orders? of course. Justice? the agony is that to a charr?), it’s at least moderately entertaining on the Mesmer. Since she’s normally in the process of throwing a sword overhand, it’s a little reminiscent of a good number of things.

I can outrun a centaur (I wish this one triggers ONLY when there are centaurs around)

I think making a really old internet joke an integral part of a class, and namely a part of the class that involves shouting the joke at maximum volume was kind of a mistake.

Also, my sylvari loves to inform me when he’s taking damage: “Death… stalks me…”

On my human engineer, it’s definitely "That feels good" whenever I receive vigor from receiving haste. Probably doesn’t help that I use that "haste on crit"-trait.

On my ranger, on the other hand, it’s *whistle* or "Sic ’em".

So many human females…

I was about 50/50 between human female ele or norn female ele until playing the first 2 betas as a human female ele (and the third as a norn). Heard that line EVERY time I went into air attunement or used a skill that gave swiftness. Sometimes when I hear a human yell it I’m afraid they decided to add that line to norn and it’s me.

After 6 days of “I can outrun a centaur!” every roughly 30-40 seconds, I honestly couldn’t tell you what my norn says aside from “whatever she says, it’s significantly less obnoxious than ‘I can outrun a centaur!’.” Kind of a shame too, the human female voice made me nostalgic for gw1 otherwise.

It’s kind of disturbing when my female Human Mesmer gets hit by an enemy, triggers the Regeneration trait, and goes, “I feel good.” Soo… you feel good getting cut by blades? That’s… a little awkward. (Then again, I suppose you’d need SOME motivation to keep hurling yourself into dangerous situations!)

“CHARR NEED NO GOD.” I love that shout, so I hear that one a lot. I also hear “Ooooh. That hadda hurt,” a lot. Charr are wonderfully silly.

For a while I was hanging out with the Quaggans a lot (who doesn’t love the Quaggans?), and I kept hearing one singing “Swimming, swimming, swimming…All day long…Swimming, swimming, swiming…Makes the flippers strong.”

I found myself humming that for weeks.

My main is actually a thief, and fittingly I never hear phrases from her except for the generic ones.

Seize the MOMENT used to really buy me when I was leveling cooking.

“I feel six feet tall” annoys me mostly because Asurans shouldn’t be using anything but metric.

I run dungeons with a guild warrior and I’m always hearing interesting, mis-matched lines that interrupt each other… I think he does it on purpose by now.

And the I chose you the worst one as well, Both ranger lines I believe.

I hear a lot of annoying repetitive stuff, mostly “I can outrun a centaur!” and “I feel six feet tall!”.

That and laughing, coughing, etc in any quiet city, I was crafting in Rata Sum and there was a constant stream of the same laugh sound across the entire city. Creepy as hell.
