Why do Thieves have the loudest dodge roll?
I assume it has something to do with the blurred effect that displays when they evade. I think it is supposed to get across that feeling of blinding speed. Like when a car drives by you really fast. lol
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
It’s even worse when you have the caltrops on dodge trait. Honestly, I like it. Besides it’s not like I play very stealthy either. I play this class more of an in and out kind of thing. In when the fight is going my way and then out when it’s clear I could be doing more good cowering behind the Necro.
It’s the blur effect I guess. Not that I mind really, I play my thief for the skills and not because I want to be stealthy (I wear bright colors).
Thieves are not supposed to be stealthy though, they’re supposed to be agile fighters.
Here’s how Thief dodging should work (possibly when traited):
1) Thief activates a dodge
2) They instantly vanish for the duration of the dodge
3) You can’t tell where they just went, as you only saw them “blink” out of sight in a puff of smoke
4) Thief pops out of blink at their new location.
I think this is appropriate, provides a certain level of advantage that should exist with the most agile/tricky profession in the game.
I love my loud dodge roll…makes me feel that my dodge is better than everyone elses…cough cough
My only gripe is human dodge gets a flashy animation, but my Asura doesn’t
I’m Asura. Instead of a loud dodge, I get a freaky cool spin dodge in mid air which looks super awesome.
Asura DO get our super-slick spinny air dodge…but ALL asura get that, human thiefs get a shadowy blur effect added to their roll.
I wants it for my own! :P
True… well, since I have that “swiftness when dodge” trait, I get that “wind” sound instead, which is kinda cool and partially replaces the effect. Human roll looks so slow now that I’ve played as an asura for a long time, haha.
I think they should quieten down the dodge, I have a human thief and the dodge is so incredibly loud the walls and windows in my flat shake. And besides, a thief is supposed to be quiet and stealthy, so dodging would be fast but it would also be silent, like an assassin or something lol.
