As a mesmer main I think that Anet should be fair and add a tiny damage to phantasm spawns just like they do with “Choking Gas”.
This is just to kick us mesmers out of stealth when spawning a phantasm. It’d be fair i guess.

Wouldn’t it just be easier to destroy phantasms when a mesmer enters stealth? Sure this is more powerful but it’s more clear cut and won’t overly punish the mesmer for accidentally leaving out his/her kitten y clones.
theres no problem with mesmer stealth! only with the PU trait so nerf that one.
Id love to see Phantasms just despawning after one attack and a short time ( enough time to use them for shatter etc) Theres no place for AI only builds!

Nerf the PU build, and I agree as a Memser it is warranted. But tell me, what else can a Mesmer run then?

since PU is only “viable” in smallscale wvw the best alternative is shatter mesmer
With the S/D thief nerf shatter mesmer will lose their worst nightmare. Its still difficult to play but maybe mesmers get an alternative with the new balancepatch :P

I’m running a power interrupt build with my only stealth being mass invis for when my party needs it, and I’m doing just fine with small scale roaming.
Not to say that I disagree with the notion for more build variety on mesmer, but PU isn’t the ONLY viable option.

Well Choking Gas and Phantasm summonings are pretty different in the mechanics behind them, so this probably wouldn’t be the correct solution. And really, phantasm summoning from stealth isn’t much of an issue and it’s actually easier to anticipate and dodge an attack from a phantasm that has been summoned from stealth as you will see the phantasm before it attacks – unlike regular attacks where you won’t see the player until an attack has either landed or been attempted.
It’s more of an issue that if the phantasm connects with its target, the Mesmer will not be Revealed, which kind of undermines the whole principle of that debuff. But I’ve never heard Anet’s stance on the relationship between external dps summons and stealth, so who knows if this was always intended.
After all, Thieves guild will not reveal a Thief, turrets will not reveal an Engi, and I presume a LB Ranger will not be revealed by their pet, so it’s a game wide principle that we happen to see more with Mesmer due to the mechanics of the class.

Except Mesmers don’t have even half the access to stealth that Thieves do.
Mesmers also aren’t in the top few tPvP professions.
Mesmers also aren’t the biggest griefing profession in WvW.
