Yes. It would allow for a bit more buff uptime and since DS overflow is so prominent in spvp it was needed.

I love my Necromancer very much, but I didn’t understand the change. The cooldowns were different if you let Death Shroud expire?

Death Shroud has some coding that they basically copied over from transforms. Transforms generally act such that the CD starts going down from when you first use it, not when it ends. In the case of DS, this would mean that as long as you could stay in it for 10 seconds, you’d be able to enter it instantly after leaving it. So they added a 10s CD to the skill you use to leave DS. However, if you let DS expire without pressing the exit button, that 10s CD never happens (since it is tied to the exit skill), and you just have however much of the CD leftover from the entry skill.

Basically, it was pretty obviously unintended functionality, similar to how Transfusion heals you if you manage to start the channel just before DS runs out of LF, and it was removed, which resulted in a small nerf in some situations. Now people are acting like ANet killed their puppy.

I would love to have Path of Midnight rolled into Near to Death so I can use Spectral Mastery at the same time.

P.s. I understand the Nerf in PvP but can accept it as a bug fix. However, following the Ranger threads I think Necro should have its own Easy Button. Let us have Dumbfire on staff AA. :p

Its forcing you to use DS as it was intended to be used. It might be a bigger nerf than I’m thinking, but it should have been obvious that it wasn’t meant to work like this.

they need to just hurry up and delete necros from the game instead of this slow and painful culling. they ignore the obvious issues.. I doubt they have even bothered to do test runs of peoples suggestions to see if they are op or not. they keep nerfing an already under performing class forcing it to new found grounds of below bottom tier -.-

that is because they go by analytics , but they ignore all the major details like something called player skill for example and they use that data to justify their nerfs towards necros ., it’s been this way since day 1 .

maybe I just need to force myself to play another class for a while and forget this. I hear Mesmer is an ok class due to the fact they buff and fix its skills and abilities and I do ok when I stuff around on it now and then.

Reverse, the obvious unintended functionality is it triggering the CD again despite “exit DS” not having a cooldown while “DS”/entry has one. Same as the weapon swap thing, it seems like someone just kittened up the code and was too lazy to fix it.

Give Mes a try, I now only use my necro in zerg vs zerg fighting for the wells when I am with me guild. I have a warrior for dungeons, a mes for roaming and a ranger for world bosses. I suppose the idea of having a “main” main that can do it all is dead, so I moved on.

Maybe if they release the templates ability to the game I may try to use my necro in different ways, but as it sits I am just as happy making ranger templates at this point due to the fact they can actually regen at a descent rate (when traited).

If you wanted a main to do all aspects of the game, you’re either going Ele, Guard, or Warrior.

Then again, I bring my Mesmer everywhere, although I absolutely loathe open world farming with my Mesmer (bosses are fine).

They should now reduce the requirement to enter DS from 10% down to 4%.

The spectral necro can instantly get enough lifeforce to re enter deathshroud very quickly, now no matter what we are locked out of ds for 10 seconds. This basically leaves us defenseless for 10 seconds everytime we come out of ds.

We’ve always been defenseless outside of death shroud. So now having what is essentially a lazy playstyle (I would know, Ive done it plenty of times) is no longer rewarded. Actively manage your DS.

I haven’t even noticed this change yet.

It’s not lazy…. I was letting it run down on purpose while life blasting for might. Once deathshroud is done pop bip drop marks 2 and 3 and maybe auto attack maybe transfer maybe try and interrupt someone ressing or stomping, swap to dagger horn hit kitten ds again and ds2 towards the person hit 5 and lifeblast again until it’s done then dagger time.
