I wonder if there is a way to change my current upgraded backpiece capacitor from berserker stat into a celestial stat? It is really unfair for me since I farmed so hard for a backpiece back then and wayfarer was still mf spec. There wasn’t any celestial backpiece back then. And I am reluctant to farm all over for it especially not all 500 ectos had been used. Please Anet, provide an item that can allow old players to change the type stat of backpiece while keeping its upgraded status.

Well, you won’t have to farm the entire fractal capacitor all over again. I believe it should allow you to transmute the skin of your shiny capacitor onto the infused beta fractal capacitor.

It will depend if you also want to keep the agony infusion slot, assuming you do, you’d need 2350 fractal relics and 250 ectos, along with the mist shard thing-ma-jigs. Then just transmute the shiny skin onto the new stats.

Alternatively, you could craft a quiver of a thousand arrows or Yakkington book (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Quiver_of_a_Thousand_Arrows and http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/There_with_Yakkington:_A_Traveler%27s_Tale, respectively). The advantage to these are that they would only take 500 fractal relics to make the infused versions, but you’d need 300 ectos and 250 vicious claws, meaning you’d probably have to shell out approximately 200 gold if you didn’t have them on hand.

All in all, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. The back pieces are one of the most expensive gear items in the game in terms of acquiring the best in slot, and they’re also the least significant when it comes to contributing to your stats. By swapping to celestial, your stat distribution would only undergo a minor change (I think it would also lose 2% crit damage, but I’d have to check the numbers).

So you’ll have to decide if it’s worth spending all those resources for a nearly insignificant adjustment in your stats (which it might be if you already have absolutely everything else you need).

If you only care about the stats and not the agony infusion slot, then it will be a lot cheaper to do (assuming it does let you transmute the skin, and I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t).

I care about the skin, the stats, and everything else I had spent so far. I do not want to go thru another stage of crafting or getting a whole new celestial ascended backpiece just because Anet didn’t include them earlier. If they can allow change to our legendaries, why not this as well?

Because GW2 is about grinding stat combinations and because they plan to make you grind for Legendary trinkets soon if you want to have the stat switching ability. There’s 6 trinket slots, which includes the backpiece, so you’ll have a lot of grinding to do!
