Looking at the Warrior in that list, I would say no, that list is not the list Anet uses anymore.

as i write here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/What-is-WvW-Philosophy/3693756 maybe better ask it here !

but, so it means wvw is an officially casual play mode? as PvE not as PvP`s Tpvp (example as TournamentPvP, not as hot joins or solo PvP. because Tpvp has fairness and rank and objectiveness)

in WvW and in any part of WvW doesnt have Competitiveness(except Server`s have ranks but not have fairness or objectiveness that its not fit for nature of competitiveness)

so WvW is place of how u like to play (there is no offical restriction)
and Game Mechanic design for 5v5structure as i got it..

i ve 2 question then!

  1. SO, Wont be it absurd requesting Class Balances for WvW adaptation/orientation?
    or
  2. Why there is no Offical Competitive mode for organized/synced large groups? as unoffical Deathmatch GvGs?
    or
  3. Why not class/game mechanics have 2 different modes as for WvW and for sPvP?

How is a lack of competitiveness automatically “targeted at casuals”? Or rather, how does the whole idea of casual vs hard-core players make sense in a MMORPG?

If casuals spend more time ingame, aren’t they the hardcore players? :P

I think the reason you see so little organized-support is because it doesn’t make sense in MMORPGs. The playerbase you aim those game modes at isn’t the target playerbase for MMOs. They can be a part of it, but they’re not the definition of the target, so it makes very little sense to spend exclusive dev time on it.

Anet has a new way to balance classes. It’s a Q&A style.

Step 1. Ask themselves, “Can this class beat a warrior who is blindly mashing buttons?”
Step 2. Answer said question with a “Yes” or “No”. If the answer is “yes”, move to step 3. If answer is “No” skip to step 4.
Step 3. Nerf said class and/or buff warrior. Just do both for good measure. Less patching in the future.
Step 4. Log onto warrior and feel good about the game. Win.

By chance, have you followed Ghostcrawler’s departure from World of Warcraft?

He was frequently accused of favouring his own class/classes during balancing.
When he left, he finally talked about his chars, turns out his main is a Holy Priest. People were really surprised, but it makes sense. If you’re in a position of power where you can be easily accused of abused it, you need to make sure that accusation doesn’t have merit. As such, you’re extra kitten your own class/classes.

So rather than what you say – the devs logging in to their warriors – rather consider that they’re the ones playing the underpowered classes. Which is why they’re underpowered. If they weren’t, they’d get accused of playing favourites (internally, I mean).

if i understand u wrong correct me pls..
Hardcore players and Competitive Players vision, mission goal can be different..
How i describe/mean with Competitive Players.. they they like to accomplish the Best..
so Best mean Officially, means Rank!
then it comes to Ranking that is it fair and objective…

Hardcore players.. Giving more Time, Focus..

so from my window it doesnt mean Hardcore player are always competitive players.

what i mean with Casual player is (who dont interest to being on top ranks)

some examples,
Competitive WvW Guilds, primarly..
try to be best in game.. as i say it needs requires to be best as Rank maybe..
who raids in wvw not for primarly for farming, to try to challenge as try to win with outnumbers etc..

hope i could describe, basicly

and what i think is GW2 is not just MMORPG (massively multiplayer online, Role playing game) i could play this game without role playing.. (as i dont interest lore, colors, scenerios i enjoy more with challenge)
yes i accept Tpvp is challenging but long time before i end up with cuz of not satisfy me with 5 players play.. i came from gw1 with my ex GvG oriented guild.. and it was short time after game launced that we disbanded by will..

so the reason is i am talking is Gw2 has/had kind of portfolio.. and what i think is customer satisfaction should be primary goal from anet.. and i dont wanna end with gw2 before i could accomplish my mission..

It would be nice if at least one balance dev mained a thief. The lack of knowledge displayed about the class on the live streams is shocking. I don’t expect the team to be experts at all classes but when the best they can pull off is face planting 30 seconds into an encounter I start to worry.

As far as balance goes I really hope they use some kind of metrics to help balance all the forum crying. Balance by community popularity is not good policy and from what I’ve seen their data capture ability is top notch.
