I feel you Black. Okay, another question. Does anyone know why if you’re blocking and also have aegis up why both are used to block the attack?

That trait work when you block. You can block whit Aegis or a Skill, it’s always a block and the trait active it’s effect, giving you Aegis.
If you defend whit a block skill, the game give you priority over your Aegis, making you block attacks whit the skill before whit Aegis.
If you have aegis and block whit skill 3 of the mage, when the enemy attack you, you defend whit the mace of the skill before than whit the passive Aegis, because that grant you a counter-skill.

Disappointing to hear, but I try not to have my expectations set to high when it comes to the Guardian class.

no shocker.
maybe 1 or 2 of the new GM traits were vaguely interesting per class………and all of them have been clarified to be the worst possible scenario.

balance team drops the ball once again….and we get to wait another 6 months for ineffective tweaks.

at least the QoL stuff of this patch will be mostly good. its just so disappointing.

Because Guardian needed another source of Aegis.

No, wait, the complete opposite. Come on guys. Your own level of survivability is excellent, this is just a way of spreading some of that to others, in much the same way that Battle Presence shares our trickle HoT across the party. The cooldown is actually short enough that Virtue of Courage’s Aegis is going to ripple every single time it comes up/gets used.

If you want to see real comedy, consider 2 guardians with this trait .

I was going to say. If attacks are slow enough, your Aegis will generate your own Aegis.

Sup dawg, I heard you liked Aegis so I gave you Aegis when you Block so you can get Aegis from your Aegis.

I have to admit I am disappointed with the answer, but I’m sure everyone here appreciates the speedy response. Thank you.

This is still easily the best of all the new guardian GM traits due to the synergy with other guardians with the same trait. Too bad it can’t compete with existing GM traits in the same slot.

I was looking forward to getting double Aegis from this trait when playing solo. I mean the trait already has an internal cooldown, so it is not like we could get Aegis from Aegis from Aegis indefinitely.

You are basically saying that this trait has absolutely no function for any Guardian playing solo, just like Battle Presence. Not only that, it has the awful 360 range. Meaning that if you Block while out of range of your allies even once, you lose your chance to apply the Aegis to any allies for another 20 seconds.

This trait is completely useless. At least make it so that it does not go on cooldown unless it has applied Aegis to at least 1 ally… It is not even anywhere close to Battle Presence which has a permanent on-going effect.

Nobody will ever take this trait now. It would have been viable if it applied Aegis to the Guardian as well on block, gaining a second Aegis(and allies as well) for 5s only then goes on 20s cooldown.

So I can give out aegis every-time i block… how fast is that is that like if a boss did an AoE the Aegis would block for everyone? If So that would be really nice.

Communal Defenses? The new “master” trait with 20sec CD which share aegis when you block?
Which means that if 2 guardians have this trait, the first one will force the second one to trigger so this is completely unpredictable and useless because we have only f3 to give aegis and the passive trait (when you are under 50% health) and the shout (who use this shout??).
This trait could be a minor one, nobody would take it.

Am I the only one to see that is THE WORST (master) TRAIT EVER for guardian?

Edit: Second worst trait ever (Power converted in condition damage is 1st).

Depends how you look at it I suppose. Guardian being able to share their personal blocks/aegis isn’t a bad thing. Now valorous defense, passive voc and shelter turn into supportive skills. Not bad. Protectors strike is boosted for allies because it can take advantage of aegis traits like pure of heart.

I don’t think that this trait will be viable. This trait is useless with AoE blocks, like active VoC and “Retreat!”, will be only good if you focus on self blocks.

No it wont. Because Mace#3 has 15s recharge, the trait has 20s recharge, so you will have to count 5s after the Mace#3 has recharged. That wont be easy though because of other things: There is also passive Virtue of Courage which is going to trigger this trait when you dont want it to, putting it on recharge. Along with any other Guardians on your team who happen to use their active Virtue of Courage or Retreat which will mess up your cooldowns. With 360 range, you will be hard put to ever give Aegis to so much as one ally on activation, given that it does not even give Aegis to even yourself.

Wait a moment. The trait say that you grant aegis to yourself and allies while you block an attack. But GM say that if a guardian is blocking the trait don’t work….
WHAT? O_O
How can you active that buff if you’re not able to active it blocking but the trait say that you obtain aegis blocking an attack?

That mean that you can’t active that trait whit active skills but only whit passive skills like Virtue of Courage and it’s passive Aegis?

WFT????

All of this is based upon speculation:

  • You do not know the cooldown to the skill, in the stream they said 15-20secs. Meaning they didn’t remember.
  • You do not know if other guardian’s aegis will proc another guardian’s communal defense.

Regardless mace has the best synergy with it, even if it has a 20sec cd. Since protector’s strike is the fastest and consistent block proc the class has.
