Conditions & professions
Mesmers also get access to bleeds via trait.
Warrior get acess to bleed, burning, torment and confusion(by traits)
Elementalist get acess to bleed, burning
Thief get acess to bleed, poison, torment
Ranger get acess to bleed, poison, burning
Mesmer get acess to confusion, torment
Necromancer get acess to bleed, poison, burning, torment
Engineer get acess to bleed, confusion, may be something else……and Guardian! Get acess ONLY TO BURNING???
Is it fair ANET? Where are the balance? Guardian is a worst profession to play condition – because you can`t give a 2nd condition to Guardian?
How much years we can beggin you for 2nd condition?
If it makes you feel better, burning does more damage than bleed =)

Guardian – burning
Still baffled as to why the devs added two condition based grandmasters to the only class that doesnt work at all as a condition class.
Guardians did the short end of the stick on this… But TBH kind of like reason why they did it. Classes should get conditions which match their profession, and nothing really matches Guardians all that well, condition wise. They are the buffing class, not the debuffing class.
Still, they kind of ruined what could have been a nice system by giving Necros and Engis every condition under the sun. It destroys any logic that classes should get conditions which match them lore wise. Necros should never have had burning.. it makes no sense. Engineers should never have had poison either.
When you look at other classes it’s much more nicely balanced.. Warriors get no poison, Rangers get no confusion or torment, Mesmers do get pretty much everything but its quite unpredictable and RNG based and they have a clear emphesis on confusion. Thieves get no burning. All these classes are obviously lacking important conditions because they don’t fit with the class style. I think this is a good way to go with conditions… but sadly Guardians don’t really match any conditions other than burning. They probably should be given a decent bleeding trait though, since bleeding is not really a class thing its a bread-and-butter condition which everyone should have.
TL;DR: It’s sad for guardians, but I think it’s been done for the right reasons. I’d rather they removed conditions from classes which have too many (ie Engineer and Necro).
Gunnar’s Hold
The new GM trait making burns deal 33% more damage is still nice and gives a nice dmg boost to guardian power builds.
BTW, via blast finishing spectral wall Necromancer even has access to one confusion [sarcasm]Game breaking I say
[/sarcasm]
The only thing that throws me off is that other professions have sometimes easier/better access to confusion than the mesmer herself. For example traiting all traits for confusion through glamor (sometimes even with internal cool down) with 33% confusion duration buff needs 10 trait points, only that you can apply 2 stacks of confusion with glamor skill (which have a long cooldown anyway. kitten useless traits, no idea what their point is: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fhAQBT0q2S1YsmIoGCq/2dLJFA

The hardest burning tick will be close to 1000

Is this a challenge to make a condition guard? I have a few ideas in mind…
Edit: I will need 50g-80g to gear my guardian for conditions. More if I get perplexity runes. I am currently at 68s, so it may be a long time before I can test it. Lol

Run dungeons or play Spvp for gear, gear is so easy to get and I’m sure the condition gear are cheap on the Trader.

I’m aware of that, but I dont count it because it’s a terrible skill which wont hit even if the other person has never seen it before, but more importantly it’s a pet skill and thus doesnt scale off the rangers condition damage. It’s stuck because very low damage regardless.
It’s like when rangers go grab birds or cats and then jump around saying how awesome their bleed stacking is… Completely ignoring that half those stacks are ticking for 25-50% what a bleed should tick for on a condition build. To me, it’s like saying rangers have access to Ethereal Fields because the reef drake can create one underwater.. well yeah, sure, it can, but none counts that because it’s not worth counting.

I agree, 5 stacks of Confusion that has less than a 0 percent chance of hitting a moving target, or a target more than 250 range away (a distance that can be covered in way less than the cast time of the F2, even when crippled), with only 350 reliable condition damage and 5-7.5 seconds……not really that great actually, even after using 2 traits on it.
It can’t track targets, and the fact that it can hit 5 targets with each individual attack doesn’t make it any more relevant either. It is utterly pointless to use in PvE since AI controlled enemies normally attack too freaking slow for confusion to even affect them. Because all 5 stacks don’t get applied at once, even when someone takes the confusion damage, its not from all 5 stacks. They work great if your attack is well timed…..and copious amounts of immobilize is used, but the work isn’t worth the result you get.
((Ice Drakes and Salamander Drakes have it worse since Burning and Chill can only stack 5 times, and both drakes apply 5 stacks that last only a second, meaning that if you use them, you are blocking other players and yourself from applying either condition (and doing it better with minimal investment in condition damage for burning)))
you get etheral field from pig F2. Gunk
Quite useful too……but, it has a 25% chance to get when you use the F2, and since the skill has a 40 second cool down, you can expect to produce an ethereal field every 9 minutes, 20 seconds, and that doesn’t include the time to run to the item wherever your pet is, pick it up, and use it. better hope you have the favor of the RNG gods that day!

If you are using a pig over a spider/wolf/drakehound in a PvP scenario, you are most likely going to lose

depends entirely on the player. Pigs can actually be very useful, if you know how to utilize what you get. Sure you do not always get what you want, but everything can be used.

Necromancer can also get confusion if they combo thier spectral wall (ethereal field) with a projectile finsiher like staff aa, even if it is not really useful in game. But to be honest confusion does make more sense on necromancer then bruning (see gw1 spiteful spirit).
Infact Necromancers are the only profession that can get all conditions without the use of sigils/runes etc.

I think it is ok for thieves from a thematical standpoint unlike warriors (though condi warriors needed something at that time).
The funny thing about torment is is was a condition introduced for necromancer yet other professions have a better access to it (well unless maybe you hit 5 people with DS 5).
I think some bleeds of necros should be transformed into torment. Torment works well with what the necromancer is supposed to be (punishing movment).

I actually agree with Prysin that Torment would have matched Rangers very well, but we have enough conditions already so I dont feel too bad that we didn’t get it

I was a bit confused on this one as well. Why don’t Guardians get bleeding? We use swords. Do we just use the flats of the blades or the hilts and pommels when we use them? Because when I watch my animations, I am clearly swinging my blade at things yet they never bleed…
Strange…
Thanks.

I thought it was because when you are on fire and rolling around on the floor in agony you get automatically healed for being selfless and daring.
