Defiant Stance
Aren’t they reducing the cast time to 3/4 rather than 1?
I don’t really want it to be an instant cast, myself- The other guy should have some warning and an opportunity to counter the heal; in this case, by stopping outgoing damage.
No, it’s a 1/4 of a sec, its the lag in big ZvZ fights that kills the gameplay. What other guy? Defiant stance is meant for big fights, not 1v1’s. Who in the right mind would choose DS over healing signet in a 1v1?
But then again noticing your signature, it’s pointless to present logical statements to you since you must have never experimented with the heals otherwise you won’t have posted what you have posted.
I feel a middle ground can be found, make it instant but add some sort of obvious particle effect around them so that it’s instantly recognizable. I feel like this should be so with every stance.
The devs say they don’t want players looking at the enemy’s health bar constantly but with many skills in this game you HAVE to look in order to avoid wasting skills. The worst offender is Stability.

I don’t see the reason to do that. Or rather, I don’t see where this stance takes a special place in balance concerns compared to say, the very very comparable AED.
Which isn’t instant-cast, but should be. However that heal is limited and needs a trigger, which is more difficult to achieve than just getting smacked for Defiant Stance. In other words I think DS should be the weaker of the two, because once activated it’s much easier to trigger healing from it.
Hence I’d give DS a 0,5s cast with no aftercast, and AED instant cast with 0,5s aftercast. Both should have very obvious particle effects (AED already has this, mind you).
Anet can add a giant pulsating halo on top of the warrior for all I care. As long as it is instant or at least castable at 1/4 of a second as advertised when it’s zerg vs zerg.
The thing is, even if you wanted to play smart you can’t. Sometimes when the heal does go off, if I can’t reach a group reset I can walk into a meteor shower or more where Ele’s bombed with the heal activated, dodge roll out and come out full health. Sometimes when doing this results in death rather than smart play under heavy lag.
Either it is instant so there is no room for lag to counterplay me, or make it castable at 1/4 sec as advertised.

If it’s really the lag in big ZvZ fights, surely this affects all clutch abilities, not just yours? So asking for a change just to your ability is a bandaid fix which, at the end of the day won’t really do anyone much good?
Abilities need to be balanced on a small-scale basis as well as on a large scale basis. Defiant Stance is not only available in WvW.
Who in their right mind would choose anything over healing signet ever?

No healing skill should be instant-cast, realistically. Doing so would remove even the possibility, no matter how remote, of interrupting the heal.
Defiant Stance already has the lowest cast time of any healing skill in the game by at least .5 seconds. Quit your whining.

Can you imagine what it’s like to be a class with half yous hp, and half your toughness with less damage and have your heals also involve a cast time!

Defiance Stance is borderline OP the way it is. Leave it! Lag kills everyone equally, accept it.
