Does ANet even read this forum?
I suppose they are on vacation.
Getting GW2 started in china probably took a lot of work.
But I’m fine with it. The update frequency isn’t any faster wehn they are not on vacation.
They’ve stated several times that they read the forums but they can’t respond to everything. Some of them even hit up the forums when they’re not working. So, yeah, they read but you aren’t gonna get a response to everything or even most things in the forum. I would have said using the search feature would have given you the answer you were looking for, but it’s kinda broken.
Threads like these make them run away and his in their cubicles
Or they just laugh and respond to useful threads.
edit:They’ve outlined what they find to be useful criticism and information in the CDIs and outside of them. They’ve told everyone repeatedly that they can’t respond to everything. More importantly, game design behind the scenes isn’t a very transparent process in any mmo. It’s all very corporate PR stuff. You hear about their plans once they’ve been approved to talk about it. Nonetheless, I feel that the staff at Anet have been very friendly and seem to take informed criticism seriously. What they do with that is another matter.

They won’t respond to every post, but even the posts that they do respond to like the ranger CDI don’t go like people expected. I’d say it’s good they reach out at all but the results aren’t quite sensible. Many patch notes I see are left with questions like, “why was that changed?” or “thank you?” or my favorite “X still broken, Wth”. They nerfed healing signet passive, didn’t touch the active at all, and strangely it is still the most used healing skill.
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”

Bingo. There are threads that are worth a paid employee’s time to reply to, and there are threads that are not.
Also consider that everyone in this forum is convinced that their profession needs to be stronger. Any dev who said anything would instantly receive 8 replies, saying: “(insert profession) needs a huge buff! Anet why are you ignoring us? You hate (insert profession), don’t you? This is all because the devs all play (insert profession) and want it to be the strongest!”
So yeah, I don’t blame them for not posting here.
I do think someone at ANet reads it on occasion. But nothing really comes of it.
And to be fair, I think we’ve sort of reached a point where people are complaining about all classes equally.
I.e. the imbalances now aren’t really within the different classes but rather within individual mechanics (like boon-spam, condition-spam etc.). And getting precise feedback on stuff like that is difficult because players tend to focus very much on a 1v1 experience in PvP.
I havn’t seen a red post in months. and balancing updates themselves in fact comes very rarely. So the question is, does Anet actually read these forums or are we all just wasting our time?
It takes an insane amount of time to do anything more than read. They only post if they have meaningful reason to do so, otherwise it can very arguably make things worse.
However, if you look through a lot of balance changes, many were based on forum input. Maybe not that they got the idea from the forums only, but that the forums had stated the idea before it was implemented.

At this point, I don’t think its really that much about class balancing between classes anymore. It’s more about balancing and adjusting within a class’s set of skills.
For example, in PvE in any competitive non-EA build, warriors will never use their class mechanic: that really shouldn’t happen. Looking at thieves, no one ever uses p/p, that needs to be sorted out.
They read it, but don’t seem to understand it.
At least that’s what the state of the balance suggests.
