Elementalist and Engineer Unfair Advantage
HAHAHA

Mist form on a 75 second cd (untraited) and Elixir S on a 60 second cd, if it’s used to secure a stomp then I think it’s warranted given the very high cooldowns….especially with elixir S considering it’s almost always the only stunbreak an engie will have at any time. Using it for a stomp will just make them vulnerable to any CC afterwards.
It’s not cheap, it’s blowing an important cooldown to finish off a player. Last note, you can actually stop players from finishing your allies by using stealth on them at the right moment..so it’s not exactly infallible.

Eles have lowest healthpool, lowest armor tier, they rely on active defenses like mist forn so when they are doing something like stomping they cant defend themselves. Warriors and guardians on the other hand could pop stability and just take all the damage and be fine where the ele would be down.
Necro plague stomp works in a similar way and is under normal circumstances undstoppable. Only exception is if you rip stability and interrupt.
Countering mistform or elixir is actually pretty easy. Instead of 1 player resing 2 have to do it. Another option is to stealth the player. Thieves eles and mesmer can get away on their own.
In a pvp fight where coordinated resing is very strong the game needs safe stomps so im fine with it. Safe stomping is not broken but downed state is. But thats a different subject.
So… Mesmer’s distortion, which is on a lower CD than mist form, can be popped to stomp while being invulnerable. Mesmer also has access to stealth to stomp with but I suppose they were just omitted from OP’s conclusion. Stability also creates for an “unblockable” finisher which is abundant on Warrior and Guardian. These guys popped a defensive cooldown (invulnerability cooldowns are normally very lengthy) to finish you off. I really don’t see an issue with this.
OP why you duplicate topic at different subforums?
all another classes can use stability for stomping. And you forgot mesmer’s F4 skill and portal-stomping trick , so you add mesmer to your list of OP cheater professions!!!
P.S. War can use stability+endure pain – another cheater! Now I will ask all people at sPvP match don’t use stability because I can not interrupt them and it’s mean they are unfair people
Probably just a Thief who tries to misdirect the attention away from Stealth stomping complaints.
Here’s the thing, there is inherently nothing wrong with Stealth stomping. The issue is that Stealth for Thieves is so absolutely spammable. Mist Form and Elixir S both have very long cooldowns, and can be used sparingly and constitute a significant sacrifice on the player to secure the stomp.
Again, unlike Stealth which is spammable.
I’ll just quote my response from your other thread:
There are actually a ton of ways to stop an invulnerable stomp:
1. Stealth.
2. Rez utilities/elites (nature spirit, banner rez, elixir R, glyph rez, illusion of life, etc)
3. Manual rezzing (if you’re watching closely you’ll see your ally go down and immediately start to rez him. If there’s no cleave you’ll rez him before the stomp finishes.)
4. Quickness rez (even if cleave damage is coming in you can get him up in time)
5. Mercy rune rez (it’s fast. Like really fast. Combine with quickness for near-instant rezzes)
6. Double rez (also fast).
7. Not getting downed.
8. Being a thief, mesmer, or ele.
Mesmers can distortion, teleport, stomp and stealth stomp
Necro can plague stomp
Thieves can blind, teleport and stealth stomp
Warriors can stability stomp
Only classes that probably can’t do it so well is the ranger and guardian. But guardian can also get stability for the stomps. They all work in a functionally similar way even though some classes take damage.
Generally it is hard to stomp a thief that teleport stomps or SR stomps, or a Warrior that stability stomps unless you happen to have boon stripping available at that moment and provided that you actually remove that stability. You also can’t stop a mesmer that distortion stomps either.
Thieves have the best mechanics and utilities to allow for an easy stomp by far so why are you not complaining about them?
So, use the ability for its intended purpose of avoiding damage for a few seconds, just not during the few seconds that make the most sense. GJ OP.
We should not teach new players to use cheap tricks just to get ahead.
So you want to farm unskilled new players? Wait.. how did you get downed by him for him to use Elixir S or Mist Form?

Well it was a 2 on one situation but either way I feel these skills are still not functioning as they should. He popped Elixir S after I was downed to stomp me. The problem is that now these skills are required in group. Forcing players that they must have this skill in order to do a quick stomp. Even if they are long cool downs the average fight leaves it so that it will always be up when they need it. I still think these skills are not suppose to function this way.
Could someone go into detail what Necro Plague stomp is?

Plague stomp is where you begin the stomp and press plague form to gain stability and a boatload of toughness to gurantee the stomp, or res.
The use of these skills is all about oportunity cost and resource management. If you bring these skills in the first place, you give up some other utility that may or may not have a more favorable impact on the fight. If you use these skills to guarantee a stomp or rez, then they can’t use them 30 seconds later, and they might have to take a hundred blades or blurred frenzy shatter spam to the face. Its all about whats more important, the possibility of guaranteering a stomp or soaking an upcoming burst? That just depends on the player what we thinks is more important. For example, finishing off someone in 1v2 or 2v2 is important, and these skills let you avoid CC or burst to be able to finish someone off and sway the fight in your favor. The only thing you can do if they use those skills to finish you or an ally off is to try and strike them while they’re vulnerable, while those skills are on CD, and in many cases that will make everything balanced if you can exploit that.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
He popped Elixir S after I was downed to stomp me.
Ele and Engi both have access to ‘Blind’ condition, not sure what class you play but that would of nullified Ranger/Warrior/Guardian/Necro/Engi downed interrupt skills. This sounds like a L2P issue, if you don’t get downed you can’t get stomped

Dont forget spectral walk > teleport to flesh wurm > and spectral recall on necro! So op…. cough cough

LOL… that would be kind of awesome.

Mesmer – Stealth, Invul, Teleport
Wrrior – Invul
Mnay classes have ways to make sure they can finish more often than not and i am sure i am missing some, don’t play Guardian or Ranger so they might have some. Not sure about Necromancer either.
ahahahahah

Elementalist able to use mist form and Engineer using Elixir S to shrink themselves and avoid all damage while finishing a player off is a unfair advantage.
And here I thought this was going to be some kind of qq about attunements and kits counting as weapon swaps. Seriously, if they burn those cooldowns to secure a stomp they deserve it.
Nothing more frustrating for an ele or engy than burning a long cooldown just to have the stomp target stealth from a thief or mes. Counterplay is counterplay.
Thieves also have another way besides invisibility…Start finisher, shadow step away, shadow step back when almost done. Good against guards, warriors, engis, etc.
Are we really complaining about stomping when almost every class save maybe Ne- (Wait, I cant say that, even necro has lots of stomping methods! Lich stomp, Deathshroud foot in the grave stomp, Plague, Blind well, ETC)
Attacking just engies and eles for this is wrong because all of us can do it on every class. rather its timed aegis pops from guard, Stab + Endure pain on warrior, shadow step stomp from thief, or the ever so uncommon Portal stomp from Mesmer, there are multiple ways to make damage nonexistant or CC nonexistant when stomping someone across the board. Out of all balance in the game, this is one area that shines greatly that they thought about it or left it open so everyone has a chance at a free stomp.

At least he doesnt cry about warrior using Endure Pain for stomping or a rangers Protect me /phew

I think you are putting to much stock into the OPs post.
All he is doing is misdirecting the QQ from Stealth Stomping. And these were probably the only examples he knew from the top his head.
Again, not a serious QQ, just “you QQ about my stealth stomps i QQ about something i perceive as similar even tough it isnt”.
