[Engi] Elixer Gun #4 has no AOE ring
Seems like a legit request.
in wich map is it hard to see?:o
Seems incredibly reasonable. Really should be there anyway just for consistency’s sake, even ignoring the actual power of the skill.
Also, would help you tell the difference between friendly and enemy skills.
Well there are many skills which don’t display an AoE ring, for example the thief throw gunk ability, so consistency is not really a concern here. I assume such skills have no AoE ring because the ability itself obviously displays the area of effect on the ground. Personally I think there are many more important things for the developers to be focusing on than rather than this.
Does muddy terrain have an actual AoE circle? I can’t remember.

I believe muddy terrain has an AoE circle. It seems like the brown “liquid” AoEs (Acid Bomb & gunk,) might be using similar animations and suffer from the same problem.
It’s possible that this was originally done intentionally, but it does not follow Anet’s new policy on making skills more readable to allow counter-play — e.g. pin-down got a new animation, skull crack was made easier to read, and rapid fire is up next to get a swirly easier-to-read animation.
Unless the game engine is built very strangely, the AoE ring should just be a toggle option in the toolset. E.g. <skill>.ShowEffectRing = True.
Edit: Just tested Muddy Terrain and it has an AoE ring, so I fixed my post.

F1 Hammer skill from warrior also does not have a circle.
Maybe it can borrow one from Grenade Barrage which has like 7.
Anyway, it would be more reasonable if skills in general got better aoe rings. Instead of constantly going and picking out only 1 ability. There are plenty of abilities and effects that do not have an aoe ring.
To the point that adding an aoe ring, increasing the visibility of each skill makes it easier to counter, by evading or moving. Might also clutter the screen more than it already is aswell.
I think there just needs to be a clear understanding of what kind of skills do, and what kind dont, have aoe circles. In my opinion, abilitities that instantly trigger once shouldnt get AoE, but abilities that lay on the terrain and “pulse” should.
The reason for this is that the activation should be the tell for the instant-immediate abilities, and its obvious when its ended.
But for abilities who persist for a certain duration this is not so obvious or clear, that an extra visual aid is a good idea.
I’ve no qualms with it being given an AoE circle.
But I mean, it is one of the more obvious moves an engineer can make, with a monster of a tell.
Elixir gun equipped? Did the engineer just fly back randomly? If so, you may not want to stand where they just were. Granted, I guess the leap back can be cancelled.
For the toast!
