Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
Okay, so first of all, credit for this idea goes to Drarnor Kunornam, I saw him post it in the thread discussing that necromancers and guardians won’t have their ready up until 4 days before the feature patch, and I didn’t want such a good idea to be lost on the sea of QQ.
Anyway, I’m requesting for the skill bar preview changes for necromancers AND guardians in text form, sometime within the next week, so that we have an adequate amount of time to discuss these changes and offer feedback, which I know you guys consider to an extent.
Furthermore, this is imperative with the Tournament of Glory Signups being so soon, because the skill bar changes for all we know could turn necromancers in tourneys from an outclassed roamer/team fighter to fill the sustain role thought the be the core concept of the class. Without knowing what these changes are, most team comps will probably continue to not include necromancer in their team compositions, unless they have someone on the skill level of Zombify on their team that only plays necromancer.
In the sense of fairness, guardians should be included in this as well, as while they are all ready a pvp staple for their support builds, they deserve time for feedback just like any other class, its just that the lack of time will be more alienating to necromancers because they are already really niche in the current meta.
In conclusion, if you do not give us the changes in text form (as well as push back tournament of glory signups so that the changes can be understood), the necromancer will have no chance to be included in the meta that it already isn’t really a part of, so please, I speak for all necromancers when I say this, give us the changes in text forma ahead of the skill bar video so our profession has a chance of competitive inclusion for the short term future, and that we can give appropriate feedback like the other classes were able to.
so that we have an adequate amount of time to discuss these changes and offer feedback, which I know you guys consider to an extent.
they absolutely dont care about public forum feedback to proposed changes. the changes are set and the feedback for them is internal. they come to the forums to gauge long term balance issues and for future suggestions, not for last minute “did you guys want fries with that?” changes or requests.

They already changed the WvW commander tag part of the patch based on community feedback. While that isn’t balance, it shows they care. They’ve also done this before with Necromancers, on Weakening Shroud.
It also isn’t all about feedback. There are players that want to play in ToG. There is no way Necromancers are going to get on teams with the profession being how it is right now, without knowing what the changes are going to be. Its a huge liability.

the commander tag system is about money for them. cosmetic change that will lead to gems for cash. the weakening shroud change was more than likely brought up internally and then echoed on the forums.
your point about ToG is pretty legit though. for a game that wants to be esports you’d think they’d, i dont know, launch with working rankings, tournaments, and drop balance patches with the timing of tourney’s in mind.
Credit doesn’t go to me, I was echoing the idea from Flumek in that thread. He just had it in the second half of his post.
I’ll still agree to it here, though.
I don’t even play Necro or Guard and I’ll step up and approve.
If they don’t give you guys ample time, they’ll only have two days to receive player feedback
The funny thing is that both of those classes are my main, curse me!
We will not criticize or suggest the impossible to be done in a few days.
What it would mean to us:
Please add a simple text , if its tuesday, a week of time sounds fairer, than 2 workdays currently. Thanks for speedier changes nevertheless
i don’t play necro, and i’m quite happy with my guard, but yes, i think it’s only fair. drop their notes (if only the highlights, like with other professions) on friday. you can’t put up a video in time, but surely you can put up a forum post?
Just weighing in with my support for this thread. As anyone could tell from my forum posts I only play Ranger… quite…uh…militantly you might say…. however given the fact that we’ve had our skill bar preview well in advance of the patch, we, alongside Engis, Thieves and Warriors have had ample time to provide feedback on these changes.
For the sake of pure fairness I can’t get my head around why the remaining balance notes haven’t been released. The balance updates for the remaining professions are just as relevant to Rangers, Engineers, Thieves and Warriors as they are to the professions receiving them as this is very much a group-based game.
The next Ready Up after tomorrow’s will actually be next week – we’re going two weeks back to back. This will give you ample time to sign-up ahead of time and request a roster change if you feel that it is necessary.
i think all 4 proffessions should be previewed tomorrow for the sake of fairness
I’m glad that the devs listened and agreed to compromise with us, it makes me feel like they actually listen to us, at least about important things!
Actually…this might have been their original schedule…

I appreciate this, almost more so because it says they want the feedback more than anything.

They aren’t able to do that because it takes time for them to record and edit the previews, and they just didn’t have that time. I think this is a perfectly reasonable solution.
