So what would be the best class to play in both pve & WvW. What would have the greatest chance of staying alive and tanking? And what is more fun, its hard to get bored?

For PvE it would be Guardian, parties fall apart without a good Guardian. For WvW it really depends on what type of play you are looking for. Guardians lack the mobility to be awesome roamers but are indispensable in zerg warfare.

Be careful what you wish for, Anet might just give it to you “HoT”
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”

I’ll tell both in both place.

Guardian and War are working well together, and you need both to stay efficient.
They are pretty different and similar.

Guardian buffs on defensive way, heal, purge, graps, block have a nice sustain and dps
Wars buffs on offensive way, have a lots of hp and regen, mass control, great mobility have a nice sustain and dps

They are fighting side by side.

The difference would be for the guardian, he need to watch carefully others players buffs/debuffs and live while the war don’t really have to

I’ll try the warrior, it seems he is stronger and has more survival on the battlefield

I prefer warrior. Their dps is pretty equal but warrior have higher burst pontential.
Guardian heal more but they need to be close to their allies to share boons to do that.
Warrior have higher hp and better condition cleansing.
Cleansing ire helps a tonn. Not nessesary in pve though.
When traited with fast hands warrior feels less “passive”.
The support guardian bring, wall of reflection , protection , stability is highly overrated.
There are people who solo arah with warriors they are great in pugs because they dont have to rely so much on others as guardian do.
Signet of stamina give you plenty of endurance if that doesn’t cut it you can bring warhorn. then you can bounce around like a theif for 10 seconds.

Both are great in pve. Also tanking doesn’t exist in GW2. Where monsters can 1-shot you on regular basis in dungeons, even in full bunker-mode. Both are self-sufficient.

The warrior buffs offensively, while the guard bring defensive buffs. Dps-wise, a fully buffed guard is only 3rd behind eles and thieves, but that hardly happens in pugs. Warriors just drop their banners, fire off “For Great Justice!” and DPS away. Aside from dodging and rezzing teammates (or Battle Standard), they mostly concentrate on their rotations.

Compared to the warrior, a good guard needs to pay attention to his/her teammates. Do they need a certain condition removed? The boss’s big attack coming up? Use aegis to protect your team. Timing reflects, bring stability when needed. All while doing your own rotations.

Also ppl tend to believe that vitality/toughness/healing power affect the guard’s best support skills. It doesn’t. The guard’s best support skills comes in the form of blinds, reflects, boons, vulnerability and condi removal. Basically everything that is NOT healing. All this can be done while in dps setup and be good survival-wise.

In the end, it all about what your find the most fun class, roll both and find out for yourself.

For lvling just use something that give u a little power and put 10 points in arms so you can use deep strike this is good early on then just use signets you should have close to 90% crit chance.

I prefer guardian. They’re the backbone of a group in any game format, and they’re immune to bad pugs since they make PvE so easy.

In WvW it is Guardians that allow a frontline to function. If there were no guardians, warriors wouldn’t be able to function in the first place as their stability has less uptime, Guardians give the group critical boons like retaliation and protection. Guardians grant aegis and condition cleansing.

Warriors are there mainly for the hammer and warbanner elite.

Told you, do you like to spend time looking at allies buffs/cond and life?

If yes, better play guard
If no, you would be a better war

What the, that’s not true. As a full support Guardian ok fine. But you don’t have to play one right. The thing about guardian is that whatever you do to yourself, you naturally do that to others. So if you need to heal yourself, your heal will go out to your teammates. So you don’t have to spend time looking at allies buffs/cond if you don’t want to. You are also pretty powerful yourself. Keep in mind the one thing that a guardian is better than buffing others is buff themselves. Heck as a shout Guardian I can self buff and maintain 18 stack of might. This is not even talking about meditation Guardians, which are a lot less support and very much a solo build.

I would say the biggest issue with guardian its lack of conditional capability, that includes soft cc. So in pvp, you are hard to kill, but also very difficult to hunt down and killing a fleeting opponent. You will also be a bit weak against conditions, since you have lower health pool, and your boon doesn’t contract the conditions.

For PVE: both are great. I would want to group with both. But for most of the living story mob events, I prefer play Guardian due to the staff able to tag more enemy, and hence gives me more loot.

For WvW: that would depends:
Guardian if you want to run with a zerg or roam with a few friends. Warrior if you prefer more solo action. Of course you can do anything with either, they are both very good.
