hmmm indeed, for a ranged skill with a range of 600, we actually need to be within melee range in order to deal full damage.
i have not tried whirling wrath in a fire field before, does it shoot out x1 burning bolt as well?
Yup – this has always behaved more like a projectile finisher than a whirl.
Projectiles have a 20% chance of triggering off a multi-strike skill, and 20% of 7 whirling wrath projectiles is 1.4 bolts…
Just another issue that has existed forever and will probably never be fixed..
It’s a bit inconsistent, I admit. Sometimes I see three come out, sometimes I see one.

No I’m referring to the fact that even in melee range, you still aren’t hitting the target for the full damage unless you are stacked on top of the enemy’kittenbox.

Ye I hate using greatsword for this very reason. Even in pve I would rather run with the hammer setup.

I love my hammer don’t get me wrong, but the light fields cause all kinds of issues with fire field stacking and any other combo field usage. That’s pretty much the only reason I don’t run hammer constantly.
You do lose quite a bit of damage not being inside a hit box but it’s still worthwhile to use.

That makes no sense though. As projectiles visibly fly in all directions, obviously some won’t hit the target unless you’re inside of them.

Exactly. That’s the problem. The skill should be reworked so that it can deal the full damage from any point in melee range. The current iteration is simply poor design.

Uuuh, I think it should have some tradeoff. If everything flies in a narrow forward cone, fair enough. Easy to hit a single target, virtually impossible to properly hit a group with it.
