Many people are not happy with the current mechanics of hundred blades. Lets look at the game as a whole. When Gw2 was new, this was the meta for warriors quite some time. However the play style was very horrid. Almost like rolling dice. Pop cooldowns, charge, stun, hope they don’t break, hundred blades, dead. This was simply not an effective playstyle in reality. Other warrior builds were buffed to be viable, and now this leaves hundred blades even less effective than before, being nothing much more than a “troll” build for the warrior. Now, for the fix, lets take a look at actual problems of hundred blades. Damage is pretty high. Easily Avoidable. Not many options to hold a smart target from moving away(snares/stuns and avoidability are on a different level). My proposal is to first, reduce the damage by 10%/slightly extend cooldown or even reduce damage further and have a shorter cooldown. Please read out the rest of the post because I’m sure many of you will quit reading here. Now, in order to fix the avoidability issues, I believe upon the first hit of the hundred blades, a 1 second immobilize(possibly half a second even/half a second under the effects of haste) should be applied to the target. This wouldn’t change much because there are still ways to escape immobilize on every class. However, it would force the target to use an ability to escape the immobilize, allowing the next hundred blades become more effective, depending on how many skills the player has available to escape. This would make shorter fights favor the target, and longer fights favor the warrior. To me this makes sense, because an offensive warrior swinging in your face should become more dangerous, the longer he his hitting you. The damage reduction on hundred blades would help compensate for the increased effectiveness on hitting the target. If the immobilize effect still seems to strong, make it only happen if the target is already crippled. This would make further use of the cripple that greatsword has. It would help greatsword have more “setup” instead of “pop cooldowns try to gib”. This could be countered by a quick condition removal that most classes have. It would also require higher skill for the enemy player to dodge an expected hundred blades, instead of “noticing” the hundred blades, and saying to themselves, “hey I need to dodge, this guy is gonna own me if I stand here”.

Tl/dr, read anyways.

If you want people to read that, put some paragraphs in.

I did read it though, and I disagree. Its good game design to make you setup your attacks and try combo attacks together. Its just lazy design and lazy play to make attacks like 100B immobilize and do big damage.. because you the user has to do nothing to land a huge hit, all the skill and active play is on the defenders end when infact it should be split between you.

Warriors have plenty ways to both stun and immobilze – use those. Comboing 2 attack together wont kill you.

You must not be understanding the concept. Greatsword has no option to stun or immobilize. You rely on your second weapon set. Your options are: Mace 5 and Adrenaline. Shield 5. or use a hammer, which is only 2. Hammer 4 doesn’t count. Regardless, you get 2 stuns to hit the target. Any class can have 3 stun breakers. Most don’t, many have atleast 2, and most classes have escapes outside utility stun breakers.

If you don’t use haste with hundred blades, its extremely slow(3.5 seconds, stronger hits over the duration), and actually requires NO skill to get out of the way, yet a tremendous ammounts of “outplaying” the target to land just 1 hundred blade. All this time your target is burning you down.

1 second immobilize on a 3.5 second ability(the first second is actually pretty weak) does not make the ability require less skill. Especially with damage reduction, all it does is make it more effective, and less useless. It’s probably the most missed ability in the game.

I think adding a 1, 1.5, 2s knockdown to Arcing Slice, instead of fury, would be a much smoother transition into making the weapon somewhat self sufficient – like pistol whip is, with the immob and stun on the 2 and 3 skills, respectively.

But who knows – maybe Arenanet feels it’s a good thing that there are some powerful abilities in the game that require other weapons/allies to set up a spike? Not every weapon has to be totally self sufficient.

Oh yes, because warriors need yet another stun and/or immobilize skill. And better yet, they need it conveniently on their big DPS weapon so that they don’t have to bother swapping! Because we all know how arduous it is for warriors to swap weapons. Being the only class in the game that can reduce swapping to 4 seconds is really tough…

Have you really not tried using mace f1 or shield bash before swapping to GS 100b? Pin Down on the longbow anyone? How about traiting leg specialist to immobilize on cripple, then use blade trail. WAIT A SECOND!!! Blade Trail is on the GS!?!?? Holy. Crap.

You also have a 3 second immobilize on bow, and a trait for bringing down your weapon swap to 5 seconds (so you can perform weapon combos easier).
There’s also an interesting 4 second immob on utilities which could allow a full 100B landing.

In any case, I don’t think GS needs any serious change until Arcing Slice is reworked to something useful. Improving the weapon before that happens would only bring problems in the future.

I kind of wish 100b was the GS f1 skill. Feels like it should be there. It used to be an elite skill in gw1, now its this super easy to use #2 skill.

Oh yes because we can use bow, mace and greatsword at the same time right? Big whoop we can swap faster, i guarantee you’ll only use pin down once per fight. Even so it’s instantly escaped, then you can only rely on leg specialist on Gs 4. Then that can even be escaped with further utilitys/class skills. What happens if they dodge that one of those immobilizes? You’re screwed. Hundred blades won’t EVER land then. The only chance you have is if you enter a late fight and hit someone without cooldowns/not paying attention. The point is, make hundred blades hit more often, and reduce its damage. Make it usefull. Not something that’s all about gambling to win. Stupid playstyle leads to uneffectiveness.

I find it funny how you people are saying lol L2 wep swap. But that’s not the point. Yes there is many options, but once your target has avoided them. You have NOTHING. I could understand your point if you are playing against bad players, but the game isn’t balanced around bad players.

If it couldn’t be countered by good players then its what, balanced? Stop looking for easy mode, not every attack should be 100% effective 100% of the time.

BTW, 100 blades on a contested point makes for a tough spot in a crowd. If anything, they should up its range just a touch, not a lot. The skill has better uses than 1vs1.

You must not be understanding the concept. Greatsword has no option to stun or immobilize.

10 points in Tactics: Leg Specialist; Immobilize a target when you cripple them with a skill.
Use GS: Bladetrail > Rush > Hundred Blades.
Congratz, you just successfully crippled+immobilized someone, rushed towards them and pulled off a 100b. All without the need to weapon swap or secondary utilities.

Why do most warriors always want the cheezy way out? Is it that hard to actually combo off skills?

If by your definition then I (as a necromancer) can also ask for an immobilize on my axe #2 and dagger #2 skill, cause if the opponent dodges or runs out of range it doesn’t do full dmg. >_>

Also, paragraphs wouldn’t hurt anyone.

already 100b is not the big numbers skill in PvP, i dont want it damage to get nerfed , instead it should get buffed in damage and stay as is, a “hard skill to setup”.

immobilize on 100b means asking for more QQ about warrior.

Because hundred blades drains health right? Or how about them pistol whips that are spammable, and daze the target? Also refer to the above post about why your setup is fail.

100b made the burst skill.
Replaced with hilt bash that dazes the target and stuns them for 2 seconds if you hit from behind.

Hundred Blades is already the best PvE skill in the game. Why would it be changed? Not every skills should be great at PvE, PvP, and WvW. You need to change it up depending on what you want to do.

This is extremely irrelevant and you are very wrong. Anet’s attempt is to make most playstyles and classes viable for pve and pvp content. One ability ajusted for pvp doesn’t have to be for pve. Look at how they did Gw1. They had pve and pvp versions of the same ability.

Wrong Fiery rush is best skill in PvE. Warrior is subpar on most things its desperately in need of buffs. Healing signet counter passive play and bad players that the only thing it counter. All it take is 4 stacks of bleed to outdamage it. Nothing on warrior is op.
They need mobility to not explode in 2 seconds in pvp.
