I now know why Rangers are in the game
Theres no other way we see some wildlife inside dungeons..
They got leftover skills and traits and homeless animals
The problem is that most rangers use bad builds in WvW and refuse to drop the bear and the longbow. Well a lot of people use bad builds in wvw but rangers have the worst of bad builds.
Zerker/PVT bearbow is like the easiest thing to kill.
Yeah, the thing is that most classes with a bad build works kinda fine, a ranger with a bad build is terrible.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
just play a thief kitten
Good rangers love being underestimated, like myself lol….zerk theives targeting me in the zerg soon learn their lesson

You think it’s the players fault when they really have no other options. Longbow is without a doubt the best WvW weapon Rangers have and the pet choice doesn’t even matter much in zerg play.
I hate how everyone blames Rangers on bearbow when it’s just not true.
hey i’ll gladly take a spirit ranger any time as an ally, they’re far more useful than a bearbow with absolutely no support capacity.
i do understand why spirit rangers are not played much due to the quite stale gameplay, but i’m just puzzled as to why bearbow is so popular in all game modes. i just haven’t seen the ranger/hunter/beastmaster classes use their solo pve builds in pvp in any other game. it’s weird.

quoting for truth. rangers are somewhat light on condi removal, bear F2 is an AOE condi removal.
→ it’s not the player’s fault that bearbow (or at least longbow) is the strongest WVW spec right now.
There was a zerker longbow ranger with a bear pew pewing at me from above a sentry, so I casually walked around, got up to where she was and killed her in no more than 4 seconds. I really do appreciate the free bags, and I whole-heatedly support their adoption of homeless animals.

I’ve run into a few good condi bomb rangers. They are scary as hell. But yeah, bearbow ranger = pretty much free loot bag.
The only viable damage weapon for rangers are the shortsword. Longbow have very low dps. Other side ss is the uncontrolable suicidism, mainly in wvw. Pets die in fights, spirits die in seconds… Ofc you can stay far away but in that case no buff for you and you not buffing your allies (ahh, rangers have no team buffs, sry) and longbow is a terible low single target dps as i mentioned above
And dont forget: we have no real cc. Staff necros have better weapon skills as our traps.
Just the WvW

Its funny when people think I am a free bag and then they die. I love having people make a b-line for me in team fights since ranger has the second highest sustained melee evasion in the game.
I evade and my team kills everyone else because people are busy killing the “easy” target. Its even better when people expect you to lose easy and you drop them.
Good rangers are few and far but when you find someone who knows what they are doing you are in for one hell of a skirmish.
Edit: I play power ranger, no not the glassy stuff…they give us a bad name, and I have only lost badly vs pu mesmer.

Rangers can be scary good in the hand of a good player. Yes not so great in zerg but none of the Medium armor prof really execl at zerg warfare but they are all good and skirmish and roaming.

Problem is any ranger trying to maximize his usefulness in a zerg is absolutely trash in a 1v1 scenario, so they’re just food for thieves or other roamers in 1v1 builds while they are out of the zerg.

Adventurer class professions good at roaming? Well I never ;-)

This is very true. You could say it about any class but Rangers suffer the most. They have very poor versatility in their utilities and weapon skills.

The best part of playing a power ranger are the players that refuse to accept they have been outplayed and keep running back to you to die.
Usually after about the third death they either come back with a bunch of their friends or they party with you so they can tell you you’ve been reported for cheating.

April 15th rolled around and made D/D Elementalist viable again. Both spirit ranger and D/D ele both fill the semi-mobile defensive support role on a pvp team. D/D ele is basically semi-god mode now thanks to strength runes, so basically spirit rangers have been pushed out of the meta by Ele. Afterall eles have support from boons/healing/mightstacking that isn’t vulnerable to being killed like the ranger spirits. So while the spirit ranger gameplayis relatively stale, I attribute better options for its role resurfacing as its main problem in pvp. I only just started playing ranger, and I think its a really fun and relatively complex class if you don’t decide to be a bow-sniper. I saw a post on the ranger forums that basically say that the only truly viable ranger builds right now are celestial spirit or trap builds with S/D and shortbow or axe/torch.
As far as pve goes, I don’t notice too many bad rangers, except if they’re uplevels in AC or whatnot. I even remember seeing a ranger with sunrise solo Lupi from phase 2 on when the rest of us wiped!! Bears seem only really useful in dungeons if ones trying to solo them, but even then only in the right encounter. And ranger could be generally much worse in pve, necros have the worst time being great in pve, and I see even more bad necro builds (condition or staff spam w/minions) than bad ranger builds, since the frostspotter concept seems to have caught on.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
