Lets talk conidtions
Conditions should Aid direct damage.
Stats that direct damage uses. Attack power, Precision, critical damage, toughness! (4 stats! you only get 3 on item pieces!)
Stats that condition damage uses. Condition damage. (1 stat)
To me, condition damage should be uses as conditions to inflict different passive and non passive combat effects. not be a a complete source of damage, in its current forum its way way way too op.
They should be thier to bolster deal extra damage when target is burning, while doing little ticks of extra damage.
lowering healing from heals.
Bleeding them to counter regeneration.
Confusing them so they hurt themselfs, Not making it so the person is like OH DAM! 25 STACKS OF CONFUSION, I CANT ATTACK!!!!!
Condition damage builds are just easy mode as its stands, They are destroying small scale PVP fights all cos devs are trying to balance them as a source of damage for PVE
I agree with you 100% about not having conditions be a direct source of damage.
BUT
If you’re going to say that toughness is an aspect of what “direct damage uses” (I’m assuming you mean as a way to mitigate the direct damage) the it’s only fair to say that vitality is a stat that “condition damage uses” as you have more HP for the condis to eat through.
Not that it really matters how much vitality you have with the sheer amount of conditions that can be applied via some autoattacks.
I think the main issue with conditions is that there aren’t enough cleanses to keep up with the frequency and ease that they are applied to you by condition specs.
1) Easy and rapid stacking Condis
2) Lack of clearing Condis
3) Anet is buffing Condis again in the ‘balance’ patch
The three main problems with condition damage in the game

Vit also effects damge….. But it does not alter the damge values.
Classes that lack condition removal were meant to have a harder time conditions vs say direct damage. This is also how the warrior should be put back to par.
If anything, I would look at WHICH condition gets cleansed. Would have to crunch numbers, but it could be the largest tick, most ticks, etc. Vs last one. The problem is the number of conditions you can take. However, if you nerf all conditions, the classes relying on one or two main conditions get hammered (opps wrong class).
Lets talk typos

Thats the problem with warriors for a few months now and other issues too. Dodged march is a good example how they should act in combat. With that (+ melandru, lemongrass optionally), they are unstoppable with soft cc (which is funny imo) and with their utilities they are quite resistant to hard cc too. BUT … When cleansing ire became the part of the package called “warrior” it went out of hand … You dont really need to bother with soft cc, so you can spam a condi cleanse every 7-10sec, which is really easy to land sometimes (longbow F1), so that bulky berserker is become immune half of the damage types. Great.
Bingo Dalanor.
Warriors need to go back to fearing getting stacks of conditions on them. Their counter should be kill the darn condition spammer fast. Now mind you, it shouldn’t be that warriors have no condition cleansing, but it should be a great weakness for them.
To not derail the thread to a warrior hate topic …
Look at other classes. Mesmer for example also has a disadvantage against conditions in theory (and in reality too), but they make up their weakness. Really resilient against direct attacks, lots of stealth and clones are just annoying even if you can spot it immediately, you still need to retarget the opponent.
So … In this case imo the class is really balanced.
Or necro. If you attack with conditions, you just empower your enemy and he will throw it back to you. Death shroud allows do absorb direct damage (to non necro players: it has some serious issues, its far from balanced), so defense wise the class is okay. CC solves the problem, they are really weak against it and it counters them twice. The agressive playstyle require attacking to build up defense and if you cant even attack nor defend yourself …
Or guardian is a good example too. Due to their blocks and heals they can mitigate a lot of direct damage and with their cleanse conditions aren’t a problem either for a while. They rely on boons, so removing them helps to destroy guardians and if you force them, to blow their cooldowns, they just melt with that tiny health pool.
But when a warrior just cleanse, cleanse, cleans, immune and if kitten hit the fan just runs away …
And PvE is another issue where conditions are a big problem, but in a really different way. There you cant really support with conditions. Soft cc meaningless, damage scales badly, hard capped and slow. And if some classes get damage bonus from something, they are simply self reliant, so this is further decrease the value of conditions, except vulnerability ofc.
