[Mesmer] Mender's Purity
Nah, hrm…
See, we’re already way dependent on this trait. I don’t like that. I don’t want to be forced 2 into Inspiration just so I got a fighting chance against anything throwing out conditions (this isn’t even PvP related).
We got (in theory) 3 potent anti-condition moves. Illusionary Disenchanter (been a while since I saw one!), Null Field (long CD since it’s a field, otherwise very strong) and Arcane Thievery (yeah, right).
I’d rather see them work on those. Gives more options. Also reconsider the Phantasmal Mage to make the torch trait more useful.
I agree with Carighan. It is already a strong trait that for many feels like its already mandatory, mostly due to lacking good alternatives.
Buffing it would just cement it even further and diminish player choice.
mesmer is not on the skill bar talk yet, but let’s ask for some buffs anyway and hopefully they may consider some of it.
let’s look at:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mender%27s_Puritythis trait is good, i use it on my mesmer at the moment.
but it could be better!Mender’s Purity
“Remove a condition when you heal.”
Conditions Removed: 2Notes:
- Only works on Healing skills
- The condition is removed after the healing, causing poison to reduce the healing effect even if removed.
- Activates with Power Return, unlike most “on-heal” effects that trigger on the complete charge of the mantra itself.i hereby propose a very simple but useful change.
Mender’s Purity
“Remove conditions before you heal.”
Conditions Removed: 2Notes:
The conditions are removed before the healing, healing effect is not removed if poison is removed first before the heal.yes, i know we can remove poison with power cleanse but this simple change would make this trait so much better.
This is a good change. It should clean the conditions before the heal.
Decreasing healing is the whole point of applying poison, though. Such a trait would basically make it useless.
Would likely make the trait too strong. It is just an adept trait after all.
I don’t think this is possible because someone could just cancel the heal skill mid cast and get free condition removal every 5 seconds.

If the cleanse/heal just proc in the end of the skill there would be no problem
I don’t know, that still seems exploitable. A person could still set up a macro to cancel the heal on the last frame of the animation.
do you all know mending removes 3 conditions first before the heal is applied?
if it works for mending, it will work for this.
Nope, didn’t know about that. I completely agree with changing the trait in that case and I now realize the devs are even lazier than I thought.
This trait is fine as it is because its an adept trait…the only annoying part is having to take 2 into inspiration. Since its an adept trait, making the condi’s be removed before the heal would make it an exceptionally powerful trait, especially with the mantra heal, and it would probably have to be moved to master tier.
The balance devs seem to not really understand mesmer (Maybe none have actually played one more than ‘testing’)..I hope they’ve learned at least the basic terminology since the last time mesmer was on the live stream, since they got it wrong. If anything, given the last few mesmer patches, they’ll try to nerf a build, and end up nerfing something totally different, and bugging more of our phantasms. Honestly, I would just be happy if the ONLY thing they said was “We fixed the pathing issues with the phantasms, and oh yeah, your iWarden will now actually attack correctly.”
Mesmer – FURY
Rank 55 – Bunker Engi, Top 300
Menders Purity is pretty good as a function, the only problem is having to go 2 points into illusion to get any reliable personal condi cleanse outside of the mantra. Mesmer has a lot of problems at the moment, but I don’t consider Mender’s Purity to be one of them.

Pretty much the thread there.
Beside, if you use mantra, you get 2 charges. First one is poisoned, but second one is fine. If you have more than 4 condi on your Mesmer at that moment, you’ve got bigger problems to worry about.
80’s – Ele, Guard, Mes, Necro, Ranger, Thief, War
Play fractals and you get used to it. Agony hurts healing more than poison and you tend to get that a lot at 50. I usually activate it while I have agony but timed so that my heal goes off right as it ends because the re-occurring agony doesn’t typically re-apply itself immediately. Of course, if you get hit by a boss, that’s another problem entirely (and you’re probably down if you were trying to heal it up).
Imho mender’s purity is in no need of buffing. It is a very very strong trait already, but, regarding PvP, it doesn’t synergize well with most builds and often require to go extra 2 points in inspiration. It shouldn’t be any stronger, unless you want all mesmers to use that trait.
Chronomancy works, I am proof of it. Now stop asking me questions. Time must be preserved!

You missed the mantra, which in my opinion is the strongest one.

hi hi TyPin, say, by the way, are you still playing warrior?
yes, it is very strong, but only when using the mantra heal though.
for sPvP, it synergies well with my troll build though.
i can face tank condition builds provided if their direct burst damage is not too high.
