I have a level 80 Engy and want either a ranger or necro. I like pets and being a minion master but also the ranged DPS of a ranger is enticing. In D3 I have been stuck back and forth on a witch doctor and demon hunter as well.. its always the battle of the summoning minion man and the archer. What class right now is in a better place for the whole of the game? (pve and all pvp types)

I would say nero, because they are wanted in 2/3 modes while Ranger is wanted in only 1/3 modes. That said, PvE is so easy, anyone can do it, so I’m not sure that should really be a point of contention.

If we compare longbow ranger and minionmaster then ranger since minion AI is terrible.

Pet responsiveness is a million times better now then a few days ago. The new ranger traits are also very nice, especially Survival of the fittest and Invigorating bond. Poison master is, naturally, reserved mostly for condition builds, but can also work in tandem with hybrid builds.

Ranger “power meta” seems to be 6/0/2/6/0 (30/0/10/30/0). Where you use read the wind and survival of the fittest + spamming survival skills for perma fury and condi cleansing.

for conditions – BM Bunker seems to be able to deal with anything these days.
