New Ranger GM traits Suck.

Well, except for Read the Wind. All marksmanship GM traits are crap and it prevents us from taking 2 master traits.

Read the wind is the worst GM rangers are getting this patch. It’s a GM trait that does something that should be a default.
It is not what you do, but how and why you do it that counts.

Yea… I’m pretty sure RtW is the worst of the three.
Seeing as unless you want to argue with SoB allowing me to get off a 25k stealth-tracking burst, or Remorseless allowing for quick 7k spikes on unsuspecting targets every few seconds, that projectile speed won’t do anything except maybe help with some reliability issues trying to hit stragglers on keep walls who know I’m shooting at them.

how i order the importance and usefullness of GM traits for Marksmenship, ( 1 being the best)
i would chose all these before chosing Read the wind.
1. Signet of the beast master
2.Piercing Arrows
3. Remorseless
4. Eagle Eye
5. Spotter
6.Beastmaster might
7.signet mastery
8… Read the wind

What I meant was RtW is the only one that isn’t pointless because it’s overshadowed by better GM traits. It’s pointless because it’s overshadowed by better Master traits.
Sign. Rangers got shafted. The only trait worth considering is the survival condi cleanse and even that is in the wrong tree.
Survival of the fittest is a pretty good trait imo, paired with ampathic bond and signet of renewal we will be countering condi classes pretty hard
Read the Wind suks a little bit yeah, but if anet gives us the chance to use active signet on ourselfs without trait it will be a good GM trait for 1vs1/small skirmishes.
Right now LB is only good if the enemy doesn’t see you, if hes aware of you he can just zig zag to you position and burst you down very easly.
Survival of the Fittest would have been a good trait if it were in another tree and not a GM trait. This class needs reliable condi removal options that still allow for some build diversity. 30 points in nature is harder to justify that 30 points in WS.
Worse still, the only build that’s going to end up using 30 in Nature is like a 10/0/30/30/0 build.
It’s fail all around and just more proof that ANet doesn’t play the Ranger class at all. As for Substance’s view… he’s also right. If Read the Wind were an adept minor or major trait I’d probably take it unless I were running SotBM, in which case I’d prefer signet mastery. But as a 30 pt trait? For any of them? I’m having a hard time justifying any of them other than the BM trait. And only because we don’t know how much it will heal.

Does this really surprise you? Every time ANeT does a “balance” update the other classes seem to get boosts while rangers either remain the same or get worse. Rangers already had to really prove themselves if they wanted any respect in WvW. I run one, and only because of my experience and ability to stay alive while doing damage and healing the zerg do I not catch the same ration of kitten most rangers face in WvW. Skill truly counts for rangers.
Anyway, all the other classes are getting decent buffs.
Devs:
1. Quit killing off the ranger with the slow drip of mercury in our veins.
2. Combine several of our traits and make some natural to the class itself.
3. Read the Wind should be a bug fix not a trait. If you want it to be a trait, combine it with the other long bow traits as one big master trait. Really, a GM trait for a single weapon?
I have many more suggestions that I’ve posted in other threads, but since they apparently will fall on deaf ears again, why bother posting them?

Since all these new GM traits were s/tPVP based, I won’t be using them… except for the 50%+ more damage while enemy is poisoned one. That one might be useful in pve/dungeons because of sword #3. I like running a 20/30/15/5/0 build so far but that’s about to change to a 30/30/5/5/0.
*EDIT: Nevermind on that poison master. I’m not going 30 into WS for a PVE/Dungeon build. So yeah, I will be using exactly none of these new traits. GG, Anet.

Seems like ANet didn’t learn anything from our CDI feedback.
Not that I’m surprised.

Man, I WISH that trait were a 50% damage increase while the target was poisoned. It actually just makes the poison itself deal 50% more damage. That ends up working out to about 1 stack of Bleeding worth of damage from a GM trait.
Just figured I’d clarify in case you weren’t aware.
Yeah, I had to go back and read the trait, that’s why I added the edit. I missed that about the damage… my bad. I definitely won’t be using any of these new GM traits.
Guildie of mine is about to shelve her ranger that she’s been playing since launch and she WVWs. She is not happy with these new GM traits. As soon as her Guard is geared up she’ll be using that one 100% of the time.

well as a ranger in wvw you have a hard time anyway because they are useless and cant support there. Most ppl in wvw hate the rangers
