Just… Wow. Grenades are even stronger than Bombs, which are Melee while grenades are essentially the same thing, just @1500 range.
You can’t legitimately use anything but Grenades in PvE in competent groups since they just blows everything else out of the water! I suppose that Bombs still are an alternative, but they are just as dull to use.
I can’t play my Enginner in PvE anymore since I came to this conclusion; These 2 kits are just too boring. And unlike the rest of the professions, we don’t have much of a choice. Personally, I think that this is absolutely the biggest flaw of the engineer in PvE by far.
If I’m wrong, prove me wrong, because I really want to be wrong.

Also, I think they fixed this already. I looked it up on the wiki, and the kits scales to your weapons stats. Perhaps you’re right in a way, because it doesn’t specifically says that it benefits from both attributes and weapon damage.

It´s more the opposite, investing in an ascended weapon don´t give the earned damage buff on kits.
Quote from 28th January 2013 patch-notes:
“•Bundles from player skills (engineer kits, elementalist conjured weapons, warrior banners) now have base damage that is consistent with the highest rarity weapons available at the level of the player.”
This was even the case when ascended weapons where patched in but “hotfixed” only a few hours later back down to old exotic base damage-values (which are the average of an exotic pistol and an exotic shield btw.)

Which is fine. But we shouldn’t want to make the Grenade kit more powerful, but rather to bring many other things to its level in PvE.

I suppose that was referred to the nerf that kits received when they got the ability to process sigils. And since 2-handed weapons are getting a free buff in the form of a second sigil (and no nerfs, despite what they did with kits) and the sigil change will hurt exactly that ability to process sigils or will cause a comparative decrease in stats compared to the other classes (since other classes can have a stacking sigil and three processing ones, whereas engineers and elementalists only a stacking one and another single sigil) it would only be logical to revert such nerfs.
That, or nerf the other classes like they did with kits at the time.
Also, the grenade kit itself is pretty poor and should be made more powerful. If they have some issues with the grenadier trait, they should fix that, not the base version.
No other weapon or utility is balanced upon its traited version, after all.

This refers to stats and sigils, not weapon power. When swapping to Grenade Kit you do not lose the stats from your weapons or the sigil(s). But you do lose the base weapon damage from your gun and instead use the static kit weapon power, which is around 970 iirc.

Ranger pets don’t scale either, and I believe that necro’s minions have the same kind of scaling issues…

Ranger pets don’t scale either, and I believe that necro’s minions have the same kind of scaling issues…
Pets dont scale with weapondamage, this includes Engineers Turrets.
So where a necro, ranger, engineers and guardians pets dont scale with their ascended weapondamage. The ranger, necro and guardian have their weapon abilities scale with ascended weapondamage.
Most of the engineers weapons, their kits, do not.

That’s not what I meant. The Weapon damage should affect every kit, just like the Weapon’s stats and upgrades apparently do.
I just further responded on how the OP asked for a 30% damage increase on the Grenade kit in addition to having kits scale with Weapons entirely;
We should rather want anything but the Grenade kit to have such a damage increase, just to make at least a handful of builds practically viable.

leave grenade kit the way it is. it’s fine. scale kits to ascended weapon stats if you have an ascended or legendary. why hasn’t this happened yet idk.

But why would they make it scale to your equipped weapon? Why would a pistol engi do different damage with grenades than a rifle engi?

power based builds scale with weapons such as warrior GS shocking I know that dmg is scaled to a weapon in a POWER build.
condition based builds do not need to scale with weapons as it scaled to condition and condi duration, engineer pistols are condi based with access to posion bleeds and burn if dual pistol.
the engie rifle is a power weapon with only 1 bleed combined with a very powerfull melee range attack (#3 skill if u don’t know)
if u actually bother to learn how engineers work you would understand this and not a stupid question
