Watching the tournaments from the last weak. Both teams with decap engi lost. Maybe you should watch the games to know how to counter them.

Or, perhaps, you should realize that probably teams with decap engi lost because the other team was better.

I see behind your reasioning the assumption that Decap Engi can carry a whole team alone.

How is this thread still active when Razac’s Decap Engineer thread petered out?
Razac’s thread actually pins down the source of the issue – Automated Response whereas this one is just QQ without constructive discussion.

Decap engi build
0/0/10/30/30 or 0/0/20/30/20
Bombs are silly and pointless.
Its a requirement to take toolkit and throw mine. FT or bomb kit can be used but bomb kit can be easily countered whereas FT cannot (instant CC).
If you have to use bombs heal trait for 1v1 you don’t know how to play.
1v1 minus thiefs (my counter I won’t even play decap against them if I want to win)(minus a lot of dumb thieves in NA)
1v1 in 80 hours I have died 5 times (minus thieves). 4 of those were me playing really badly. I can decap ANYONE except a d/p thief with 3 teleports.

Throw mine toolbelt has a 6 boon rip on 20s cd. GL with your stability.
Immob off point ez decap.
supply crate = full cap.
Toolkit 2 is blind removal I CANNOT be blinded with that down unless your spamming more than 1 per second. (which only a thief can do)

This build SHOULDN’T exist. I am playing it so show its brokenness. I don’t claim any skill. It’s just broken.

Nerf AR = decap engi won’t exist.

This is the correct build for a number of reasons:
Bomb kit is noticeable and therefore easy to blind/ dodge/block. Flamethrower isn’t.
Toolkit 2 is the best blind removal we have. The block is also invaluable for bunker engi.
Throw mine is the reason it’s viable. Up to 6 boon ripping every 20s.
Med kit is the best healing.

Your job:
Push the point your team isn’t fighting at. Not defending (you can 1v1 defend forever but that’s a waste of your time)
You can decap ANYONE except a d/p thief with 3 teleports. You can “outplay them” but it will still take 45~ seconds to decap and you risk death.

DO NOT FIGHT THIEVES. d/p is extremely hard to deal with and thieves mobility allows them to rotate back and kill you quickly. No point.

I am not here to teach you how to play engi only to make sure the decap abomination continues to spread, till its nerfed.

Tips:
Toolkit 2 before your cc’s will remove blinds very very effectively.
Mine field doesn’t have to be blown up. They can just walk over the mines.
Use channel skills (tk block, med kit heal) then swap kits mid way in-between to check cd’s.
Always FT 3 into an immob if they have stability stun breakers. stab doesnt fix immob.
Throw mine is un-blockable. Use it against blocking enemies and laugh as they don’t dodge it. Rifle 4 is a 3s knockdown. Time your immob towards the end for maximum effect. Supply crate used only to guarantee full cap/live longer 1v2+
Use terrain in your favor. If they have 2 people no reason for you to stand there unless your defending the cap. Kite your kitten off. They either stay 1v2 for ages or 1 backs away. You decap right after. Once point is decapped if you may die walk off point. Assaulting keeping a decap 1v1 is a tie. Full cap or 1v2 is benefit.

In the end, the problem is that the build is player vs point and the skill floor is too high. Take away AR, and decap Engineer falls just like all the rest of the other bunkers. Also keep in mind that the build has extremely bad matchups against Thief, so if your Thief isn’t shutting down the AR decap Engineer then he’s obviously not doing his job.
