[PvP] Nerf Chill of Death
Remember it’s a Master Slot trait and it can crit that high only for Powermancers. In most cases, it won’t hit that high. It’s a good master tier slot but it isn’t overpowered.

Everyone is running well powermancers now. High damage and relying on Deathshroud to effectively kite and keep up the high sustained damage.
The aid of Chill of Death, is not helping.
It’s once every 20 seconds. If they aren’t running Axe, they’re running Chill of Death. If they are running Axe, they probably aren’t running Chill of Death.
It’s really not hard to deal with, now that it won’t insta-kill you (like it did when the threshold was 25%)
Everyone running well Powermancers ? I roll one with build created by myself but have yet to see everyone running wells… Maybe in WvW zergs… But really, if someone is running wells… Remember, it doesn’t proc on your target, it procs on first target you hit with any AoE, making it sort of 1v1 trait. Also, it does significantly less damage without boons. It’s a boonhate mostly and required for things like guardians or engineers. It isn’t that scary.
Also, I’m really curious about these wellmancers… You mean, if he puts down wells of Suffering and Corruption, you can’t just cleanse his immobilize and sidestep from them?

Wells cover the entire capture point, making it near impossible to stay on it.
I don’t find wells that much of an issue but the combination of high damage with the wells is not okay.
In my opinion, the fix to this is Chill of Death.
Chill of Death was actually WEAKER at the 25% threshold than the 50%, allow it to hit hard early against a low health target.
Say you’re a thief with 13k health, squishy, built for spiking.
25% is roughly at 3k health, at 3k health Chill of Death will instantly down you.
At 50% health, 6.5k, now the trait can easily chop most if not all the health away, instantly downing you if you got hit by a stray Life Blast.
Killing you FASTER at 50% than at 25% health.
It’s the perfect trait.
Good against both heavy armor targets and squishy targets.
Hey ArenaNet, where is my trait that instantly casts Phoenix? I’d love an instant cast Grenade Barrage against low targets too.

Those got scrapped when you received traits that provided vigor. :P
If you want to play the equality game, I’d love arcane shield, lightning flash and ride the lightning on my necromancer. Then you can have Chill of Death.
You don’t look at just one aspect of a class when you’re looking at balance.
Ah the equality game, yes i would love some mobility (leap/blink), some vigor, some stability, blocks, invulnerabilities, stealth etc…

Well this is the first complaint I have heard about power necros. I am interested to see how it plays out.
I think it is ok for a master trait. Those 4k damage can only be in a power necro build. And saying that power necros are op is a bad joke. Power necros are actually fine and if you lose against one he most likely deserved the win.

1 – Everyone plays condition Necro because it’s the best and most effective Necro build.
2 – Everyone complains about condition Necro because they are dying to this build.
3 – Condition Necro receives series of nerfs to cater to the people complaining about said build.
4 – People move from Condition Necro to Minion Master (MM) Necro due to nerfs.
5 – More people are now playing MM Necro and people are dying to this build.
6 – Everyone complains about MM Necro.
7 – MM Necro receives series of nerfs to cater to the people complaining about said build.
8 – People move from MM Necro to Power Necro due to nerfs.
9 – Everyone complains about Power Necro because they are dying to this build.
10 – ….. and so on.
It’s like some sort of weird loop.
Just wait for the full stream of Power Necro hate which should arrive after the next balance patch in March.

Is this the standard 30/10/0/0/30? The old chill of death was bad this new one is better the threshold had to be raised. 35% threshold would probably still kill you 50% at least gives you counterplay to recover instead of a trait basically kill you outright.

Can’t believe people are crying that power necro is op. Especially wells.
If (probably when at this point) power necros get nerfed, I will have trouble staying in the game. I have no problem with chill of death getting nerfed because I dont use it, but that would be about the only approval I have.
Really? Chill of Death QQ? You realize that we’ve had the same skill on Focus since launch and it can be used every 16s on your boon stacking bum right? Why is it getting flak now?
Slightly off topic: If necro sees yet another nerf instead of a buff somewhere I’ll reroll to something else if I continue playing at all. I spent most of my accumulated glory on level scrolls from the PvP vendor since glory is going away soon. That will let me, if I so choose, to instantly hit max level after creation. But honestly I’m not sure what I’d even want to play. Else maybe? But they are apparently as bad off as us and probably won’t get fixed for another six months after Ranger gets over buffed.
With games like Destiny coming out and Planetside 2 consuming some time right now, I’m not sure I’ll stick with GW2 for another six months waiting for lackluster buffs or tooltip fixes to necro.

Yeah, and there is now way to avoid that damage, except of course don’t stand in the wells and counter the extremely telegraphed and slow firing Life Blasts. Power Necromancers are fun, but far from overpowered.

Dodge solves this issue.
Wells are useless in 1v1 or small scale combat.
They are however fantastic in zerg combat where people aren’t paying attention.
Well of Suffering + Well of Corruption on the enemy and Well of Power on our Commander Tag.

Well thats a glass cannon build, those are supposed to have high damage. Those zerker necros are really easy to kill and avoiding the wells and the lifeblasts is not hard at all. They are only good in wvw zerg fights, where they can hid in groups or ok in tpvp with good postioning and good team support. But in tpvp i would actually prefer a condi necro over a power necro…
Why is it 5/4 seconds long?! There is 0 reasons why that skill has to be 5/4 seconds long.

if necro power specs get nerfed, you’ll only see more condi dhuumfire and terror fear spamming necros which are much more effective (higher DPS) than what you are complaining about.

It’s funny because it’s true.

The skill on focus is really useful. Chill is a potent condition, and it also removes boons and deals a decent amount of damage.
The casting time is perfect.
What is not good is the instant cast trait. Skills that can’t be dodged without randomly dodging should be changed or removed.
Honestly, ele lightning and arcane spells are really more troublesome than this trait. Because of this, I wouldn’t really complain about this trait because there is worse that needs attention.
I love the focus’s spinal shivers though. Very powerful, and gives proper warning before it hits. It is perfectly fine as it is. Unless an asura is using it, in which case you can’t see anything.

If other classes struggles against us, they get a hug and we got nerfed.
