A stun, burst, evade all in one button?

I literally cannot think of another attack like this in the game. Oh, and it’s spammable.

What’s next? Make it a stunbreak too?

This skill is poorly designed. Dealing massive damage while evading all attacks on a skill with no cooldown and then porting back to safety with sword 2 is about as easy as it gets.

Stun, evade, and medium damage all at once is a rather large amount to have in a single skill.
However, it keeps the thief in place, and I’ve noticed, in pve at least, that the evade doesn’t last the whole skill.
It is balanced because the class that uses it has low base health, and the evade is useless outside of pvp. It has a lot of potential to become unbalanced again in the future, but for the current moment, I’d say that it is a non-issue.

Whenever I would complain about thieves to my guild (whether from pvp or wvw) the thieves in my guild would tell me how hard it was to play, how squishy they are, etc. etc.

So I made a thief in pvp, having never touched a thief before, found a pistol whip guide, followed it exactly, went into solo queue tpvp (didn’t even do any spvp) and won the first 7 games, literally just pressing pistol whip. I’m not talking that the team carried me either, I had 200+ points each match (not that points are an awesome indication of your effectiveness but better than nothing).

tl;dr thieves are the hardest class evar if you main thief, otherwise they are pretty faceroll

Pistol Whip is great at killing random people or unexpecting burst classes. The more skilled the person is, the less likely you’ll kill anyone. Engineers will wreck you as outside of Shadowstep there is no fast condition removal on S/P and any skilled player tankier than a burster will be able to give you a run for your money.

Its a one trick pony for sure but anyone competent will wait till they see you steal then use stability, effectively making your damage output almost 0 until its gone because no one is gonna stand in range of PW unless they’re stunned/immob’d.

The downside of course is not only are you playing a burst class, but you are also still a thief, one without stealth mind you. If you get focused on by someone with high stability uptime or heck even just someone good at timing dodges, you will not only deal very little damage, but you will also have no way to mitigate damage apart from running.

I will say this though, in random matches, the odds of finding people smart/skilled enough to deal with this type of burst are few and far between and most will just stand there trying to attack you the moment the stun wears off so it can seem very OP there.

As for the “no skill like it” comment, blurred frenzy is fairly close on a relatively short cd and assuming you’re on flat-ish ground, works through stability thanks to illusionary leap immob.

yep i love too spamming pistol wip on clueless noobs that tanks the whole channeled for the 9+ k damage, too bad that unless you find someone with everything in cd pistol whip can be countered with: stunbreaker, stability, immunity skill (mesmer S/x #2 for example) and in the meanwhile the thief is stuck doing a non interruptable channeled, i agree that it does a lot of damage and also has a good aoe but the only escape mechanis of that set is the #2, plusi never had any issues with s/p thiefs, unless i had no cd/they bursted me with quickness, but hey that’s how gw2 works, any class can burst you in 2 seconds with an adeguate spec.
