Hi,

Evasive Powder Keg is the explosives minor trait which creates a bomb on dodge. This is fine in general but extremely annoying while using stealth skills like toolbet Elixir S. The bomb on dodge will immidiately reveal you if enemies are around (breaks stealth). Even if there are no enemies around the bomb is visible to other enemies so they get a clue about your position.

Possible fixes:

1. Bombs from Evasive Powder Keg doesnt break stealth.

or

2. Evasive Powder Keg doesnt trigger during stealth.

I stopped playing my engi a few weeks ago because this issue bothers me so much. A fix is highly appreciated!

This happens with the 15 point explosive trait Reserve Mines as well. IMO this is even worse than Evasive Powder Keg because you have no real control of when the mines pop out. With Evasive Powder Keg, you can at least try to refrain from dodging, but Reserve Mines will simply trigger when it’s supposed to and reveal you if they hit anyone.

I would prefer #2 for balance reasons. Being able to dodge bomb people while being stealthed could be problematic in that regard.

I agree reserve mines are kitten worthless… at least with the utility version you can choose to detonate them… instead of oh hey big flashy lights telling the world I just hit 25%… and they need to chose to walk over them for them to do anything at all… which can be used to their own advantage to reveal you if they choose… great…

It just creates similar problems to thief’s last refuge.

Those minor traits are both terrible. Evasive Powder keg also procs Confusion for example, its a 5pt entry trait into the Explosives tree.

If you want to pick up any major trait in that tree you will have your Stealth broken and dodging will proc Confusion.

I would gladly have this entire trait removed and have no 5pt minor trait in the explosives tree then evasive powderkeg. Its honestly more of a penalty then a boon.

Eh, for Power builds, double-dodging then placing a Bomb with BK or putting up some CC can be that last spike of 3-4k you need to down someone.

But yeah, Evasive Powder Keg is a pretty trash trait. That said, I don’t run Cloaking Device and I Stealth using Jump Shot, Rocket Boots or HT Detonate to guarantee that I don’t do damage when trying to escape. I’d have used my dodges earlier during the duel so the point is moot.

I wouldn’t mind if it did something else entirely, for sure.

Perhaps this:

  • Drop a blinding Flash Grenade when you dodge (This grenade deals no damage, and detonates 1 second after your dodge).

The Flash grenade is well cued visually, and a 1 second delay is plenty of reaction time for your opponents to counterplay and also try to dodge it. Now both you and your opponent are a dodge down – or, if they weren’t so clever, a weapon skill down.

Evasive Powder Keg is indeed comparable to thieves Last Refuge. No minor trait should have negative effects. Hopefully Anet will rework all those broken minor traits very soon.

Breaking stealth through dodging is so frustrating to me. Sure you know it happens so you can try to avoid dodging at all while stealthed. But there are situations in PVP where you just have to dodge, e.g. to prevent CC right after using Elixir S toolbelt.
