With the improvements to sPvP coming so now we can take rank seriously there are some utilities that could use improvements that I hope will make it to the balance team.

Arcane Brilliance: Blast the area, hitting foes with critical damage and healing yourself. Healing effectiveness is increased per target hit.
- I love this skill, given the right situation you can land a massive heal, rewarding timing and good positioning. Just several problems.

  • Blind ruins this heal. A lot of the healing comes from the AoE damage, if this skill could also remove blind from the caster that would make a HUGE difference.
  • Worthless with Scepter and Staff. This skill NEEDS to have range to be useful for range casters, revert Arcane Blast back and give this skill a ground targeting.

Arcane Blast:

Arcane Power: Your next five attacks do critical damage.
- I just… I just don’t understand. Why waste a utility on this?

  • Just a thought, why not like: Arcane Power: Instantly recharge all attunements and gain fury for each one recharged. Or maybe Arcane Power: Gain 100 points in all Attributes plus Super Speed for 5 seconds. I’m just throwing out ideas, I’m not even putting much thought into it.

Glyph of Elemental Power: Gain a chance for spells to inflict a condition based on your attunement.
- Get rid of the Stun Break, moving on.

Glyph of Storms: Create a storm based on your attunement.
- Slow casting, high recharge.

  • Add a Stun Break, reduce casting time to 0. There ArenaNet, a useful utility Glyph. You’re welcome.
  • Being all serious, Glyph of Storms is way to slow for a skill that can be avoided by not only players but bosses that can’t be stomped by a ball of warriors.

I would touch upon much needed nerfs, buffs and changes to the Elementalist but ArenaNet doesn’t seem to listen to the community very well COUGH DAGGER BURNING COUGH BURNING COUGH COUGH but they do appear to be an open ear for skill thoughts.

I actually like arcane brilliance how it is, but its not really a pvp skill. Giving it range would break the risk:reward of being close to enemies. As it is, it still holds potential for staff builds b/c you even out even hitting nobody if you blast a water field. This skill is already great in pve.

Arcane power does need some help, even if it was “your attacks crit for the next 2 seconds” with a short CD, that gives it potential for like a valk’s build or something.

Glyph of ele power is one of my favorite ele builds, and I want to use it SO BADLY. It already super-strong, and has a HUGE skill-cap in terms of picking the right time and attunement to proc it in. In some fights, the perma-weakness is amazing, against some enemies the burn helps get that dps to get the win (not for d/d which already has nearly perma-burns), and against some enemies the chill really messes up their rotations. Add to it the chance to use it as a stunbreak and the skill, alone, is incredibly interesting.

Glyph of storms is so strong in some ways. In earth, its like an aoe “invuln” for 10s as it pulses blinds ever 1s now. In air its basicially “25 vuln.” Fire and water are kind of “meh.” The only problem with this skill is the 1.25s cast time, and the fact that most eles NEED to take defensive utilities. A small shave to the cast time would be enough to make it worth considering. At 3/4 s cast time, I give this skill another look.

Arcane power could use work since almost no one uses it except in really niche builds with elemental surge. Really anything would be more interesting than it is now

Arcane brilliance can be almost a 10k heal if its set up right, and its basically the perfect example of risk vs reward in this game. Making it ranged would completely negate the risk. Although i always wish it were somehow easier to fit in arcane mastery so you can get it to a 20s cd

Glyph of storms is another of our best skills, high cast time/cd but really strong effect. If anything id love the radius to be 360 instead of reducing the cast time, thatd make it a lot better at covering a point (sandstorm on top of combustive shot anyone?), without changing much in pve. (thatd actually make it a little weaker on bosses with small hitboxes but w/e)

Glyph of ele power is also great in so many places, but like blackbeard said the problem with glyphs is that you can barely even run 1 because cantrips are so useful. And if the universally hated d/d cele build with 3 cantrips works, why bother running anything else

Also going to add that this class has got to be one of the hardest in the game to balance, but recent buffs to glyphs/signets show that its being worked on. Hopefully by next balance patch we’ll see less of the cele d/d bunker build (so boring) and more variety
