That is, technically speaking too, abusing a glitch more than a proper feature of the game I think >_<
I wonder why Necros cant DS stomp. Other classes have MANY utilities that can be triggered during a stomp but we don’t and the fact that we have only one real source of stability without blowing a well or a major utility is a bit frustrating.
I understand that stomping shouldn’t be a Necro strong point but we really don’t have many ways to get one off – sometimes I find myself having to use dagger offhand #4 just to blind my enemy before I get CC’d.

or Revive for that matter. I always forget I can’t do either when I start playing on my necro alt.
I’d also adress the issue of enemies outhealing our heaviest dps in downed state.
but that does go along with the poor stomp abilities as well as poor downed state of necro’s.
Add to that the http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ritual_of_Life not casting upon revive but after.. :S

yea this topic kittenes me off as well maining a DS necro in WvW and PvP. There really is no benefit to be in DS other then having a decent health pool which may be the only reason why were still in DS to stomp. Not having access to easy stability and sparse blinds makes it very difficult to stomp as is, plus were squishy… which is why you’ll never see me battle res as there is no point to have 2 people dead.
Think outside Necro, most classes have something they can use to get free stomps
Theives can stealth stomp (Massive OP)
Eles have stability and can stomp in mist form
Wars/Guards/Engis have stability and immunities to damage
i’m sure rangers and Mesmer’s have something (rarely get stomped by them lol)
so why is it that necros cannot stomp/res in DS, we can still be knocked down/back feared and killed in DS so is it really to OP to have that?
I’ve always wondered about this as well.
My Thief routinely goes stealth in order to revive/stomp, my Mesmer goes invulnerable (Distortion shatter), Guardian pops an Aegis, etc. Every other profession has access to their special mechanic during a revive/stomp except Necromancer.
If someone goes down next to me my Necro has to cut short it’s DS in order to revive them, actually bypassing the one mechanic that is supposed make them the attrition class. It really seems upside down when you think that Necromancers are the most vulnerable when they are reviving/stomping, as opposed to the other way around for every other profession. I just can’t see any logic to it.
I had always sort of assumed there was some reasoning behind this limitation that I wasn’t seeing, but for the life of me I still don’t understand it.
Does anyone have any theories as to why Necromancers can’t revive/stomp in DS?

The fact that Death Shroud was originally necromancer’s downed state and was shoehorned into being a class mechanic probably has something to do with it.
