PvX Necromancers Need aoe cleave on AA
I would suggest the axe instead. An axe is a weapon you swing around, and could logically hit multiple enemies. Where as a dagger is a single-target weapon.

the thing about that is axe can be used from safety of being 600 away while daggers need to be in melee range.
kind of a higher risk more reward type deal.
by design necro is meant to be a ranged class so it makes sense to me for the axe to get the aa cleave.
in wvw, there isnt such a thing as a necro frontliner so what would be the point in giving the dagger cleave? lights are meant to be the damage.
If dagger cleave is fine, if axe it should be a cone that hits upto 3 tatgets

Ranger axes have aoe on auto-attack.
So no.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
ok well I just recommended dagger to have the cleave but since most want Axe to do it, lets for it.

I didn’t say “give the cleave a range of 600”. I said, give the axe cleave. That means:
- Axe still has it’s current range.
- But the Cleave effect only works at close range.

I dont want to start some conspiracy theories, but what if Anet holds back these kinds of stuff to fill up patch notes sometimes? Everytime we can see small and meaningless number tweaking, so we dont left out of patch notes. Its the same, when they cant came up anything, they put it ingame and so on.

I’ve pointed out before that unless they give us an actual update, they shouldn’t expect any cheers from the necromancer community. All the fancy number shuffling doesn’t do anything, except slightly decrease a cool down here, or remove a Bleed there. But it doesn’t fix any of the obvious problems with our class. I want to see fixes, not pointless number juggling. Moving a few numbers around will not fool any necromancer player into thinking their class is getting the attention it deserves. And I know the devs know this too. It’s all just “keeping up appearances” right now.

As long as the range is limited, I think it could work fine. It would also make the axe a whole lot better, since it is kind of useless right now.
As far as the dagger is concerned, I’d like to see better life stealing and single target damage for that weapon, but not Cleave. It’s the difference that makes it interesting. One can be a multi-hitting cleave weapon, and the other can be a fast hitting single target weapon with life stealing.

Since it is a magical class sure dagger could have a magical cleave and the same goes to the axe. Even scepter could hit 3 targets in that area with your targeted foe.

Daggers meant to be high damage, single target weapons.
Axe is … well … i dont know … slap a multi hit to it.
Scepter already hits multiple targets with Grasping dead and as a condi user you can use epidemic for more aoe awesomeness.
I would suggest keeping dagger and axe mostly unchanged. Axe 3 should be a blast.
Cleave should come in the form of a new weapon.
There’s also a precedent for using the Axe in that both existent axe users do multi-hit auto attacks with it.
While with the dagger, only one class can currently multi-hit with it, and that clearly doesn’t attack with the dagger if you watch the animations, but just uses it for a focus. The two classes who attack with the dagger cause single-target damage.
So I’d add it to the axe. I like the idea of “weapon concepts”. Like Torches always having one move causing burning, and Warhorns granting swiftness in some way or another.
