much better option is if Swoop become full evade .. as increase cd on maul just for blast finisher is not a good idea…if you know how to use maul and if you perform chain of some attacks you may be able to even down some GC players in few seconds ..
explo for maul has pro and cons
i mean an explo every 6s or even less is really strong. just less skills with explo finisher has such a low cd. otherwise then we can see the shortbow thief..
it would has a nice Effect for wvw ranger. stacking might and heal in fights is important and su h a low cd qould make ranger more useful

it wouldn’t need a longer cool down IMO.
Guardian Mighty blow Hammer 2 has AOE 300 range leaping blast finisher on 5 second cool down.
Maul has a 6 second cool down, with no leap towards target, 150 range, and obvious telegraphed animation. The vulnerability is practically useless compared to the bleeds we used to get on it.
both mauls and mighty blows damage, though not equal, are comparable.
I’d love a blast on maul, and agree that given other professions’ access to blasts, that it wouldn’t be an overkill to have one on maul with current CD…
But, given our acess to fields, I also reckon it needs some tradeoff.
The blast + vulne + damage and CD, plus our relatively easy access to fields might be somewhat high all put together (we can basically make two blasts in our waterfield, then lay more fields, would it be through traps or weapons, and keep blasting them – while war/gard/thief have fewer access to combo fields).
Quite some time ago (sometime last year) there were discussions about GS with a dev from the balance team. He felt GS wasn’t quite there yet and discussed putting the evade on swoop instead of AA, which many felt was a bad idea (I don’t remember if he discussed blast on maul, though I think it has been mentioned).
