[Ranger][PvE] Basic pet changes...
im thinking you give somewhat basic stuff wich wont realy help the ranger pet be more viable but may always help make it less anoying to people who hate it…. I personnal hope for pet to scale in power and critical damage like mesmer phantasm do.

I think that before anything is touched in pets, they need to get the pet to hit their target. If they can’t get 30% of our damage to effectively hit the target, then everything else is a waste of time because even with all of these changes, your 30% damage will only hit 5% of the time. The other 95% of the time your pet is either dead, on timer, staring at you because your attacking someone on a keep wall (even the stupid birds stare are you without flying up), or lunging himself out attacking nothing but AIR. Let’s get the pets to hit their target first, then we’ll worry about everything else. Because if they can’t get the pet to hit, then we need to remove the pets from the game because they are only a handicap, and honestly, I’m tired of being the only class that has a 30% damage handicap. And that number is getting larger as new weapons and armor is being introduced into the game.
It wont mather if the pet can hit or not in pvp because it doesnt do enought damage in the first place to even be worth the use. Nowaday people dont care to dodge or kite them what change would it do if they even changed the AI. AI is a pvp only issue right now im talking about a pve issue wich is pet behing useless both damage wise and survivability wise

I’m talking WvW, I have no experience in PvP, only in WvW. In WvW the pet can’t hit anything because it stop’s to do an animation before it attacks, so your target just has to move out of the way or not stop running and the pet will miss. The rest of the time the pet is dead from all of the AoE’s. So you have 30% of your damage doing absolutely nothing. Once they get pet’s to hit their target, then they can scale damage accordingly to make up for the gap in new armor’s and weapons, or they can get the pet to scale with the ranger. But all of that is useless unless they can fix pet AI
I said this one months ago: would it be imbalanced to alter “Pet gains Protection on Dodge” into “Pet gains Aegis on Dodge?” This could at least allow for a Ranger’s “other half” to actually survive the occasional AoE which would normally kill ‘em off.
The rest of Frostfang’s ideas are darned cool, and should have honestly been defaults for the class, entire.
Other 80s: Any but Warrior
wont mather if they can hit or not if im more scared of a dead rabbit then im scared of your pet damage. An ele can litteraly facetank your pet and laugh while overhealing himself from auto attack.

To me, these Changes (that I wrote about in the top) would have been there from start. They are just so basic and some of the would actually improve the hitting issue quite a bit as well – th F2 skills and how they are dsigned, wich I mentioned. And I Think they have sto start somewhere..,. Right?
Of course they got to adress the hit-issue as well, as all of u say here. Thats why it is a good thing that u DO leave comments!
Then some of u talk about WvW and PvP. This thread is about PvE (look at the title). Maybe they have to make a slight split in functions between PvE and WvW/PvP or the pet and ranger is risking getting OP in the man-to-man fights? Others probably know that far better than I do. Personaly I do mostly PvE and know very Little about the pet-issues in WvW/PvP. The only things I know is what I’ve Heard from others, and I want to know from trying/experiencing it myself if I’m about to say anything about it. Thats why I leave WvW/PvP out here.
Unfortunately for players that primarily play only in PvE the company mostly balances around Conquest mode sPvP.
Ranger pet in there current state really have no place in a game with an active defense system (as the developers have stated before they have no intention of giving the Ranger a command to make the pet dodge). Look at the mechanics they have put out lately for PvE the handful of jump to avoid a ground effect as an alternative to dodge to avoid the attack. I am not saying that the entire game needs to redesigned to work with ranger pets, but it would be nice if they would at least consider making the pet immune to future effect in which there is no defense except leave it dead or hope with does happen again before the swap penalty is over.
