This is not a complaint thread, it is a question and an observation.
This is the Warriors #4 warhorn skill “Charge.”

The Ranger’s warhorn skill gives 15seconds of Fury, Might and Swiftness with a 35 second cooldown, 28 seconds if traited.
The Warrior’s warhorn skill gives 10seconds of swiftness, cures Crippled, Immobilized and Chilled with a 15 second cooldown, 12seconds if traited + removes one condition.
Now I understand that the Warrior’s warhorn skill gives 5seconds less Swiftness and that it does not grant Fury or Might. However, Warrior’s have many ways of granting themselves Fury and Might already, I do not think that is a valid reason to have such a drastically shorter cooldown when compared to the Ranger’s warhorn skill. Not to mention the default removal of movement impeding conditions on a short cooldown seems better to me than 15seconds of increased critical chance and a bit of extra damage with the Fury and Might a Ranger gets.
So, I would really like to see the Ranger’s #5 warhorn skill have a reduced cooldown to something more like 25 or 30 seconds by default and 18 or 23 seconds with the Off-hand Training trait slotted. That sounds reasonable to me, especially after the comparisons here.

I think no.5 needs more swiftness, however the real offender is that #4 is somewhat bad and should, well, do something.
You shouldn’t put up 1 weapon kit right up against another profession’s weapon kit and judge it as balance. Call of the wild is simply different.
As archon pointed out though the only real problem is #4 on ranger WH is quite sad.
i agree with SpellOfIniquity.1780, that the recharge time of the ranger warhorn 5 skill call of the wild should be either
base 25 seconds, trait 20 seconds
base 30 seconds, trait 24 seconds
by the way, ranger’s off hand training traits reduce recharge time by 20% only.
and as mentioned by ArchonWing.9480, the ranger warhorn 4 skill is quite lackluster and should be improved, perhaps by
- reduce the recharge time
- reduce the activation time
- giving it some kind of finisher
- applies some kind of conditions
- all of the above

aye, i’m still very casual, however, i got fed up playing my shout warrior, now i’m trying out an all signet hambow in hotjoin.
only got back to playing warrior casually in hotjoin now, previously i was playing other professions like guardian, ranger, mesmer, thief, all casually in hotjoin.
Warrior warhorn is op. Vigor+swiftness+TURN 1 condi into boon+cures snares on 10 people! Epic in wvw. You can cure 40 condition on a very short recharge + boons and more boons and a very nice condition for enemys bonus fast blast finisher! Ahhh. Fapfapfapfap
I am more confuse on the warrior war horn can have 1200 range on it’s skills.
Warrior warhorn is not OP… just because something is good does not mean it’s OP…
…but ranger warhorn is pretty sad. If someone has to take up a weapon slot just to get swiftness, they should be able to get 100% uptime for swiftness.
It’s fine that we don’t get mounts, but people got places to go, and no one bought this game to enjoy long strolls through WvW.
…as for the birds… Pft! That skill should come with a warning “retaliation may increase risks of the user committing suicide”
I support buffing the ranger warhorn. As long as whatever buffs the class gets aren’t going to longbow, I’m cool with it.
Hunter’s Call should add 5 sec of blind with each hit and the birds should attack over about 2-3 seconds.
In my opinion, they should reduce the ranger CD on WH #5 to at least 30 sec or increase the Swiftness duration.
My main is a ranger and I think that our WH skills better than the warrior’s.
To begin with, ranger’s WH can cause damage …
Warrior have lower CD but ranger’s have better utilities IMO.
EDIT: Yeah a bit of reduction on ranger’s WH #5 or rise of the swiftness would be fine, but nothing above 5 seconds difference.
4 skill is absolutely the worst offender of ranger offhands. I would like to see more utility out of Ranger warhorn skills, as right now Warrior warhorn is absolutely dominant. From a lore standpoint both classes should have quite a bit of use out of a warhorn, but the uneven balance right now is too much. I think Warrior warhorn skills should have a longer cooldown (condi transfusion paired w loss of movement impeding condi is just too much on that cooldown) alternatively Ranger warhorn needs a buff.
One suggestion, I’m just throwing out possible scenarios, could be a shout-radius blind on a reasonable cooldown. Or possibly a short length fear.
Warrior Warhorn is absurdly good…permanent vigor + swiftness, condi cleanses, good weakness uptime. Short cooldown blast finisher.
Ranger Warhorn is trash.

You can’t just look at the 1 weapon and say it is op or underpowerd comparing 2 professions and not accounting for the traits, class mechanics, etc…. I could say that ranger sword does more dmg and has more mobility than warriors sword. Does it make ranger sword OP?

I don’t see why it’s a problem to compare the two. I was giving an example of how the Ranger’s warhorn should function since as is, it has an unnecessarily long cooldown. Comparing them just shows how strange it is that the cooldown is what it is.
How about swapping #4 and 5? Hunter’s Call becomes the #5 skill with a 30second cooldown and now causes blindness per-pulse. Call of the Wild now becomes the #4 skill with a 25second cooldown. That seems more in line with the functionality of the Warrior’s warhorn. I’m not trying to make Ranger in to Warrior, I’d just like for us to have a more viable set of warhorn skills.
Also, something I forgot to mention in my original post. Warrior’s #4 skill effects 9 people and has 1,200 radius. Ranger’s effects 5 people and has 900 radius. Which just further makes me question why it deserves such a long cooldown.

Because it’s not the same character equipping either set of skills. It’s a completely different class with different base armour, different utility skills, healing skills, elites, weapon choices, class mechanic and traits.
Does the overall package work out given the Warhorn? Yes/no? If yes, all fine. If no, why not? Is it too strong? Too weak? What should be changed? Should Warhorn actually change, or something else?
That’s the thing:
I do find on my ranger , if im dualing and do Use Hunters call during that channel duration my charater becomes Very Vunrable (if i don’t cover myself with a pet f2 or a CC just to pull the skill off)
the amount of hits it does , is really only good with high Crit hits in a power build as its Base damage is low /Average , its lack in this area it nether supports people or supports the ranger on its own and needs heavy traiting (off-hand training) crits gain might or Crits deal bleeds.
Going the Crits deals bleeds route only effects Crit hit condi type builds or builds with Might stacking traiting/sigils in place , somthing a ranger can do well only after heavy investment, including a pet to maintain.
just for the sake of build Diversity , this needs to change:
1. Blinds on warhorn 4 channel 1.25secs 0.25 decrease , hits reduced from 17 to 15. damage upped to 2.02-2.05 co-ed , to balance hits to blinds Ratios. shorter hits , less time under the effect of blinds , the target is then only locked(blinded) out of melee for 1sec, after the final bird hit.
2. Warhorn 5 needs a cooldown reduction 35secs is unfair for what it does and the amount of targets it effects , increasing this to 6 will allow the pet to be effected also without having to trait for shared boons, if traited it allows the warhorn to grant the pet 1 extra might through the effect of being effected by the warhorn.
3. if a cooldown reduction or targets increase is not availiable/viable , the amount of Boon time should be decreased by 2sec , and replace swiftness with Haste for 3secs. (a hunt should be a hunt)
4. Warhorn 4 again, if nothing can be changed about this skill , Make it effect 3 Targets in a cone 35 degree frontage, the birds flock and attack that area rather than a Target , this will provide the ranger with onther option for AOE!.

Yeah, but one has a blast finisher that is on a 57.14% lower cool down. When it comes to blast finishers, that is a lot.
I feel like one stack of might is a serious joke. Propably relict from alpha when there werent classes with easy 20 stack acccess.
1 might = 1% more damage

Swiftness and fury are more valuable to me than limited condition cleanses I might get elsewhere. I could be dead wrong but Ranger horn seems better than warrior horn.
