Since we’re getting counterplay to stealth with engi’s new utility goggles, and a buff to Sic’em can it please effect decoy?
I’m looking forward to all the thief QQ if more rangers start rolling with sic ’em post-patch.
I completely agree with this topic. It is nonsensical that the decoy utility skill and the desperate decoy trait ignore the revealed debuff. Fix this already! I have been asking for it to be fixed for over a year…
Mesmer is already skimming the surface of being non-viable. Neither of those invisibilities last for any substantial time. Both are already on longish cooldowns. If you Q.Q Mesmer…. you simply can’t play.
Because stealth is stealth is invisibility. If the skill is on too long of a cool down, then perhaps that needs addressing, but counter play to prevent stealth should be consistent against all versions of it, be that another profession with stealth/invisibility skills or even combo field uses for professions with no native access to it.
Meh, it’ not needed. I wouldn’t mind, but i’d prefer them fixing all the other bugs crippling mesmers.

This has nothing to do with Mesmer being viable or not, this is about Mesmer’s Decoy utility ignoring the revealed debuff. WvW wise you think it’s okay for the mesmer to stealth after tripping a stealth trap, or having some ranger use “Sic’em” (which is a 40s CD)on the mesmer only to have them stealth and lose targeting anyway? Reveal should be consistent with all stealthing abilities. Get over yourself with the Q.Q on mesmer being soooo unviable(hyperbole) in other game modes as the vast player base of mesmers state. If you’re looking for some type of sympathy here with that bolded statement, this is not the thread you’re looking for. Also please note that Skill bar for mesmer has not been set for a preview yet so hush, wait and see until then. Sheeesh..

I agree that Revealed should not be ignored by any skill (perhaps a skill could specifically remove it, but having that skill also stealth should be reserved for an elite IMO.). This is for pure consistency in the game. If that causes Mesmers to become unviable, then perhaps they need buffs, but those buffs should not be in ways to make them inconsistent with existing game mechanics.
Give Mesmer a few buffs/bug fixes for this and we have a deal. As people have said already mes is already weak and nerfing this without any buffs would be punching someone already on the ground (like the ileap change and many others nerfs before it).
Yes, fix this and the part where it interrupts any skills you’re channeling. No more half-baked jobs like with Illusionary Leap please.

Developers address this a along ago. Decoy will remain a non stealth skill at’s core. However if you would like to discuss fixes for mesmer;let’s talk about illusionary elasticity not working, iwarden not working, greatsword AA being bugged, image being unusable, confusion damage being over nerfed, confusion damage being found in power line, all patches containing only nerfs to damage, far reaching manipulations not affecting all manipulation skills
If you’re being beaten by a mesmer, they are winning despite all the bugs and lack of damage..

actually, mesmer and thief stealth is not the same. If you pass through SR then into veil, once SR stealth goes away you will be visible, they give two separate buffs.
All stealth, be it ranger “Hide in Plain Sight” (camouflage), Decoy (get stealth) or Stealth itself should be ONE “buff” or “Boon” or whatever. Not several different entities all playing by slightly different rules.
Decoy is supposed to drop the target which wouldn’t work with normal stealth and revealed. An easy fix would be to reduce the duration of the “specialstealth” to 0.1s and add another normal stealth with the real duration.
Decoys functionality is right we’re it is supposed to be. Think about Mesmers play style and survivability and you will understand this.

Mesmer wouldn’t be skimming anything if people would just let go of portal plays or just diversify their build set. Just look at Countless for example. Dude can deal with condis, use portal AND has adequate direct damage and isn’t using shatter mesmer.
no worrys after mesmer uses devoy you are still able to shoot the clone xD

Mesmers aren’t weak, and they are still very viable in pvp and solo/group roaming. They just need a lot of fixes to the elements that are broken. They don’t need buffs but they certainly need fixes to bring them up to speed again.

Mesmers are weak. OR they are weaker as intended. Why? Due to bugs. If the bugs are not fixed mesmers need buffs.
And in PvE Mesmers NEED buffs
It would be yet another slap in the face if they decide to “fix” this before they fix more important bugs that affect the Mesmer in a negative way. Ileap pathing bugs existing since beta? kitten those, let’s just “fix” the swapping part! ONTO THE NEXT BUG!
…well, I just cannot believe that arenanet decided to give Decoy a different behaviour without doing so on purpose. It’s just too obvious. Maybe it’s meant to be that one utility that will always get you out of trouble? It’s 3 seconds on a 40s cooldown, after all – far from being spamable like thief stealth. I’d rather compare it with a Warriors stance then – long cooldown, short effect – and can’t be removed.
It’s all speculation, only anet knows the truth (I believe they already stated their position concerning this skill in the past, not sure). I wouldn’t be surprised if they decide to change it one day, and I hope they also reduce the cooldown to compensate the nerf.
Until then…
The skill is working as intended, it is designed to ignore revealed. Not even anet would call this one a fix instead of a nerf.
As someone has mentioned, in revealed it could instead give a split second stealth just to drop the target, but then would require a reduced CD as it would be a senseless nerf to a struggling class.
It is working as intended. However if you don’t like it, the Dev’s have already defined their veiws on the Mesmer class
Go figure. And I’ve said over the months that a modded version of how Decoy works could potentially help Thieves with Last Refuge issues. I feel soooo conflicted right now

The last thing Thieves need is help. They need to QQ for a bit, then L2P.

I take this comment as you hate thieves, but that’s the typical mesmer lately with thief hate. If this is allowed to remain then i see no reason why blinding powder shouldn’t be the same way. It’d be only fair if Blinding Powder and Last refuge get the same treatment as mesmer’s decoy. Since they’re both have the same CD. :> Because that’s the logic if decoy is to remain in this way, ignoring the reveal debuff because it’s a utility skill. I’m all for bug fixes for mesmer and some buffs which are probably coming either this friday’s preview or the next. Though another thing i’m starting to notice is mesmers are sounding like Warriors and Ele now whenever I gander around the forums.
Mesmer, Thief and Necro will never be balanced their class mechanics and skill set make them either OP or useless.
You forgot to mention rangers, which by far have the worst class mechanic in the game and will always keep them broken.

Dodge? Evade? Block? Disengaging? Take your pick. All of which are not not options against stealthed players. Due to the fact that no tells are visible on invisible players. Which makes the question seem a bit backwards.
The thieves can QQ all they want. I’m still gonna argue that playing against counter stealth builds is a pure, what was it they call it on the thief forums, “l2p issue”.
