[Suggestion] New Weapons Ideas
Ranger – Rifle
Yeah, it was my 1st question about rangers: “They cant use rifles? Wtf?”
I actually kinda like this interpretation of Thief Torch. My personal interpretation was something along the lines of “arson, arson with a side of arson”.
I’d add necro+sword to the list. Necros could use a power-based melee cleave wep and swords seem to fit the bill for most other classes that use them (thief, mesmer, ranger, guard i think). That and I would love to use a stygian blade on my necro :p
I prefer Engineer to use Hammer.
I don’t have an engineer, but if he/she can use Hammer, I will roll one.
Give any light armor wearing profession a rifle, cuz light armor + rifle looks rad.
Necro torch that chills
Hammer (melee CC) because the Risen do it
Greatsword (melee cleave, either condi or power) so I can RP Trahearne finally
Honestly I’d just like to see new weapons in general spread around. It does get a bit boring sometimes when I’ve been using the same set of 7 weapons for nearly 2 years.
So I just copy and paste what I wrote into another thread a long while algo:
Elementalist:
OH torch: fire ? another set of fireskills, like spitting fire; water ? mistskills like blinding or regen; air ? skills that resemble a firestorm; earth ? lava-based skills
MH axe: How this elementalists remind me of WoW-shamans, there’s need for axes here. And yes, they know how to wield them properly, they can even summon them.
Warrior:
OH dagger: used for finishing your foes, every knight, soldier, w/e was running with a back-up knife or dagger which was used to finish off armoured enemys after wrestling them down.
OH torch: who doesn’t miss the picture of an medieval/fantasy-army marching illuminated through the night, who doesn’t love torchlight processions at all?
Ranger:
OH pistol: we know the ranger likes it quiet, but an ace in the hole is the best life insurance.
MH dagger: as already suggested many times, this would be lovely.
Necromancer:
OH torch: plague-flame-spitting maniacs? check! (green flames of course)
shortbow: Would just love to see something like that, I mean, c’mon, banging around with magical-infected arrows? Who wouldn’t like that?
Guardian:
OH horn: the most obvious. I’m even wondering why this ins’t already usable. Buffing
and stuff.
longbow: yes this is a guardian. A guardian also guards gates. And what do you do when you see a bunch of foes trying to rush your beloved castle? No, you don’t charge into them like a mentally disturbed suicidial person. You try to get them off this kitten castle. What would work better than a magically enhanced longbow?
Thief:
MH mace: what is better for knocking somebody out than a lovely blunt club?
rifle: I know it’s hard to loot somebody after killing him from long distance, but it’s safe, modern assasins do the same (ask Kennedy! oh wait…). As long as the thief isn’t screwing up like this guy ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yx-hdWXuXZQ ) it should work well.
Engineer:
OH torch: igniting your matchlock pistol and letting your enemys look like Niki Lauda at the same time? Definitely!
hammer: what does an engineer want more than a weapon used for smacking faces and repairing/destroying stuff?
Mesmer:
MH pistol: Sometimes you just want to keep your hands clean in a normal way.
OH horn: Just tell me, what’s more confusing than a shizo running around with a vuvuzela?!
Ele: Duel Pistols, it would be nice if they were condition based weapons
Thief
-Focus-support based, possible AoE stealth or vigor
-OH sword- parry/non-stealth defensive related
Warrior
-Nothing- because they already have so much.
Engineer
-Mace- dirty fighter, high mobility.
-Hammer- Aetherblades got it, bunker related melee with high defenses.
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”
Mesmer – Daggers:
1 – Decieving Strikes – A classic 3 step chain that applies confusion for the first two hits and culminates in an attack that applies a stack of vulnerability.
2 – Mirrored Withdrawal – Teleport back (300 range) and leave a clone at your starting position, gaining 2s of vigor/aegis.
3 – Distracting Reprisal – Slide forward (600 range) and blast the area, dealing a small amount of damage and blinding up to 5 targets (150 – 200 range).
4 – Chaos Blades – Throw 2 illusory daggers, dealing damage and transfering 1 condition (each) on hit.
5 – Mind Fire – Shoot a bolt at your target, dealing medium damage and applying 1s of burning for every stack (every 3 stacks?) of confusion.

Ranger: Staff.
Guardian: Longbow
Engineer: Hammer
Necromancer: Hammer
Thief: Torch
Am I good?… I’m good.

Staff is a magical weapon, how do you imagine a Ranger with a staff ? A celtic druid using vines and bees ?

Ranger’s use magic already, although it is fairly “tame” in comparison to the clusterkitten of visual clutter than an Ele does. But they could also just whack people with it, a la Gandalf.
Ranger – Staff
Attack with vines and wasps for bleeding. (AOE)
Necromancer – Long Bow
Spectral arrows create AOE hex zones . Players within these Hex Zones are attacked by vengeful spirits.
Elementalist – Rifle
Elemental Gun Attacks that erupt on impact.
Thief – Sceptor
I dunno maybe doppelganger shadow ninja attacks. Summon a brief shadow doppelganger that quickly attack the enemy and vanishes.
Ranger – Rifle
Yeah, it was my 1st question about rangers: “They cant use rifles? Wtf?”
Because it isn’t WoW’s hunter. It’s a woodsman.
Ranger: Staff.
Guardian: Longbow
Engineer: Hammer
Necromancer: Hammer
Thief: Torch
Agreed on all.
halbard for mesmer
new weapon kind, fits mesmer either in my opinion
Mesmer: Longbow
I’d want this to be a very short-range, nearly melee weapon with a condition-based cone auto that puts a stack of confusion or other conditions on effected targets. Why short-ranged longbow? Because that’s how mesmers are.
Because it isn’t WoW’s hunter. It’s a woodsman.
And woodsmen carry rifles (and pistols) nowadays, unless they enjoy being mauled. If they were a Druid there’d be an argument, but they aren’t (only some builds are druid-yish).
Necromancer – 1h sword, powerbased with cleave
Mesmer – MH pistol, because I just always felt I wanted that on mesmer
Guardian – Axe, condition weapon due to brutal nature with ease to bleed
Ranger – MH dagger, a 1h power melee weapon that doesn’t have the annoying AA animation chain that sword has…
I want new weapons
crossbow – ranger, thief, … – slower, more powerful shots
bo – ranger, thief, warrior, ele – fast movement, melee, defending
whip – necro, mesmer, engineer? – crowd control, half distance
halbard – warrior, guardian, mesmer? – slow melee weapon with great range
gauntlet – thief, mesmer, necro, … – very class specified using
Warrior: Pistol for a defensive ranged variant
Guardian: Longbow for projectiles that actually move
Ranger: Rifle because class needs damage weapon
Thief: Mace for a non-instagibb build
Engineer: Sword for more mobility
Mesmer: Hammer because nothings shatters like a Hammer
Necromancer: Torch because doom fire nerd
Elementalist: Longbow because no Ranged PvP option
General: Whips or Lances for Mid-range Melee
As far as the engineer goes, I would love to see one handed cross bows. Preferably power based, so that we could run a power based build with crossbow/shield combination.
I’ve been so completely sold on Mesmer dagger for a long while now. Maybe just have it as a mainhand- or offhand- exclusive, similar to torch/scepter.
How about a Two handed Shield or Shield dual wield?
Because it isn’t WoW’s hunter. It’s a woodsman.

Yes and this isn’t nowadays.
Asura – Futuristic society.
Charr – Post industrial revolution society, you’ll see more Charr with rifles than bows.
Human – Post renaissance society, they already have gunpowder, rifles and pistols handcrafted.
And for those talking about whip… ^^ It’s a “new weapons combinations” topic more than a “new weapons family”. Because it’s way less work to just do spells instead of many many many weapons skins + spells.

Clearly firearms are fairly prolific in the setting, that isn’t the point I was making.
Usually when someone tell “it isn’t nowadays” he means “GW2 is middle age like” (that is wrong). What was the point ?
I know a lot of mesmers want MH pistol but I really want a short bow for my mesmer too.
That way I can shoot ponies and my clones can shoot ponies too lol
I’m usually typing on my phone
Dagger main and offhand on mesmer! single target high power dmg to complement our sword which is pretty good cleave dmg.
1.1 slice your foe dealing x dmg
1.2 slice your foe dealing x dmg and inflict x second of weakness if hitting from behind or the side
1.3 stab your foe dealing x dmg + y dmg if target is weakened
2 Leap to your target and transfer 1 condition and steal 1 boon, deals x dmg + y dmg/condition on target + z dmg/boon on you (careful scaling on the condition vs boon dmg) 15 sec cd
3. Clone – summon a clone that will use your AA chain (12 sec cd)
4. Dash towards your target with supersonic speed causing a shockwave, deals x damage to all targets in a line, evade through the animation. Blast Finisher (300 range, 20 sec cd)
5. Phantasm – summon an illusion that deals very high single target damage and inflicts 5 stacks of vulnerability for x seconds (25 sec cd)
Dagger traits:
Master trait in domination – 20% recharge on dagger skills and Move 15% faster for MH dagger equipped and 10% for OH (like the necro trait)
That trait might be a bit over the top but it would nonetheless be an awesome one and mesmer deserves some movement speed love and what weapon to combine it with except small fast weapons that doesn’t make your character clunky?
Warrior-dagger/main and.off
Thief-axe/ main
Ele- torch/ off
Engie-dagger\main
